Searching for info on family of Josef (Joseph) KASENCHAK. We believe he was born in Szepes county, Hungary (in or around Lublokempach (Krempach) (Kremma) (current district of Stara L'ubovna now in Slovakia) probably in the 1850s or 60s. His wife may be Katherine (Kathryn?). They had 4 children that we know of: ANNA, born in Europe 1882; PETER, born in Europe in ?, was a married Russian priest (who moved to and died in Corning, NY); JULIE, born in Europe in ?; and JOSEPH, born ? in ?.

ANNA KASENCHAK married Istvan CZICZAK (b. 1878 in Lublokrempach, thus the link in area. Istvan and Anna emigrated to America in 1904 thru Bremen, with their infant son JOSEF. At Ellis Island their names were changed to Stephen and Anna SISKO. Our understanding from family lore is that Stephen and his father-in-law, Joseph KASENCHAK travelled back and forth between Europe and America at least 3 times after arriving in America somewhere around 1900. They settled in the Luzerne County area of Pennsylvania. Stephen was a coal-miner killed in 1928 in a mining accident. Joseph died in a Nursing home in Shickshinney (?), PA in ?.

Looking for any information on any line of this family. Write oksis56@aol.com.
