Am looking for any help in tracking the lineage and life of my grandparents both resided in Covert Township of Osborne County Kansas in the late 1800's early 1900's. My grandmother was a Weatphall till she married Fred Kaser. She tehn married a james Davenport in 1933 but later divorced him.
My grandfather committed suicide the day before a trial was to begin where he was accused of killing his brother Alfred Kaser, and his wife and six children over a land dispute. He shot them and then set the house on fire, this was May 31, 1928. That October, he committed suicide, though the case is still open as there were suspicious circumstances relating to the suicide.
I am interested in all vital statistics, including land ownership and certificates of birth, death, and marriage. I found one small article on Covert that included the tragedy, but nothing else. I have no idea what papers would have covered the story.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :o)
