My Great Grandfather, Jacob Kaska, came from the Soca region of Slovenia with his Brother Filipp. Something happened to Filipp though as the only record we have of him is his immigration to this country. Then, somewhere along the line, My Great Grandfather started using the name Filip and left the country to go back to Slovenia for a while then came back as Phillip...but hen called him Jacob. I am trying to find out whether he was Filipp or Jacob and what happened to the other one...it's my only real family mystery.

I am a Caska and maybe my name was Kaska a long time ago, my Great Grandfather was from either Auatria or Bohemia and he was born 1834 and came to the United States in 1863 and my Great Grandmother gave birth to my Grandfather John Caska, correct spelling in 1870in Muskegon Michigan,
Maybe it's the same name . Please email me at Yourangeleyes60@aol.com
I would like to see the coat of Arms for Kaska, very interested.
Sandy Caska Carlo

Sandy

What was language spoken by your ancestors? Do you have his arrival manifest? It would certainly have his place of birth or last residence. If he married in America than his state marriage application and church marriage record would have his place of birth. His first child's church baptismal might contain his place of birth.
Parcanack somehow does not look correctly spelled placename in Germany.
http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~shtetlexp...
Distribution of a KASKA in Poland:
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/kaska.html

Hello Michelle, Kaska is my married name. My father-in-law was born in Poland. When he arrived in America, his origanal last name could not be pronounced by many Americans so he shortened it to Kaska. The Polish people call Kaska or Kaske the "soft" name of origanal last names. I know that Kaska is also a German last name.

Baila KASKY (KOSKA) - from Hungary? - of Athens OH

My grandmother's Mrs. Florence McLean, dated a Bala (Baila) Koska for the remainder of their lives. They both lived in Athens Ohio area and are buried there in the same cemetery. They never married or had children. (Florence had children from earlier marriage). Baila more commonly spelled his last name as KASKY and I THINK his tombstone says Kasky also...I will ahve to look again. I ahve photos of this man if anyone is interested. My mother says he was from Hungary or his family was. Baila is also a War Veteran. Julie JEWEL8118@aol.com
