Thelma Mae Rodgers, 94, of Roscoe, Ohio passed away surrounded by her family at the Coshocton Health and Rehabilitation Center at 3:38 a.m., Sunday, August 28, 2011.
Born November 22, 1916 in Amesville, Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Addie (Kasler) Maxwell.
She formerly had been a salad maker at the former Old Warehouse Restaurant until retiring in 1980.
A Methodist by faith, Thelma had been an active member of the West Lafayette Ohio Order of Eastern Star #342 and the White Shrine of Jerusalem #34.
Thelma will be remembered for her sewing and quilting ability, and she was known for her long walks and she enjoyed crossword puzzles.
On November 30, 1936, she married Harley C. Rodgers who preceded her in death October 29, 1982.
Loving family members are a son, John C. (Evelyn) Rodgers, and a daughter, Margery A. (David) Stigler, a daughter-in-law, Alice F. Rodgers all of Coshocton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; a sister, Evelyn Alfman of New Lexington, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald C. Rodgers, infant Harley Rodgers, Jr., a daughter, Caroline Rodgers; three brothers, Dwight, Kenneth and Elza Maxwell; two sisters, Bernadine Williams, Dorothy Jenkins; half-brother, Ovid Eberts, and a half-sister, Gladys Eberts.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Perry County with Rev. Mark Caton officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Free Funeral Home in Coshocton, Ohio.
