Searching for the family of Joseph Kaspar, born abt 1865 in or near Uhl. Janovice. Married Barbara Serta (or possibly Sexta). Their children were all born in the same area, Pauline, b. abt 1880; Frank (possibly Frantisek) b. Apr 30, 1885; and possibly two other children younger than Frank. Frank immigrated to the Minneapolis, MN, area around 1904.

Any help with this line will be appreciated!
-Kristin

Hi! My sister posted that 5 years ago and I have been following up where she left off when I saw your post. Ironically, my dad (Frank) and my uncle (Milo) have the same names as their father (Milo) and his brother (Frank). So I think there was some confusion from the previous message. Their grandmother's name was Mary, but their mother's name is Margaret (she and their father are both still alive). My uncle is living in Deerfield Beach now (not too far from you actually) and my dad and I moved back down to south Florida about 5 years ago. Such a small world.

I'll be sure to tell my uncle that I heard from you :)
Brittany Strizelka

Hi. It's a fluke that I got on to this website. I knew Milo when I was in my teens. I had been to his house several times. Not in it, as he was embarassed by either the apt. itself or his dad that seemed to drink a bit. But I remember his mom's name as Mary. So before I got to this website, I looked his name up. It was listed with Lake Worth as his city of residence. That's not far from here. I'm in Coral Springs, FL. He used to live in Ft. Lauderdale w/ his folks. Milo used to work for UPS last I heard of. Sorry to hear about his parents. But......we're talking many years ago. Maybe 1978 is when I hung out with him. Not sure if any of that is important. But, tell Milo that Anne Smith says, "Hey"! Have a great day. Anne Schwartz

I am looking for relatives and information for Frank and Amelia Derrer Kasper, my wife's family. Amelia came over on the SS Aragonia 8-17-1899 with her 4 yr old son Frank Jr. b. May 1896 and little sister Hermina Derrer b. Aug 1887. Records list them fom Budapest, sometimes Austria-Hungary depending on census record. I believe Frank came over the year before but I have not found the record yet but he was already stateside.

The Kaspers went back and forth from Philadelphia and Texas throughout their lives.

I've seen Frank listed as Franz. I've seen Kasper and Kaspar for spellings. I've seen Amelia listed as Emilia, Emilie and Emma on one census. I've seen both Derrer and Derer for spellings. The family ended up in Corpus Christi Texas in final days. Frank Sr. died 1935, Frank Jr. became a priest.

Other children I have are Emma b. abt 1901 and Mary b. 1903 (my wife's grandmother).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I may have some information for you regarding Frank Kaspar.
He may have been the brother of my grandfather, Josef Kaspar.
I have done a genealogy on the family and have the following:
Frank Kaspar may have been born in Smecice or Korkorov, Bohemia in about 1858 or so. I have my grandfather's birth certificates so perhaps they were both born in the same village.
Frank Kaspar had a wife named Mary. I don't know about the business in Blue Island, however, when the family came to the US they were sponsored by a Zabran family in Blue Island. Could be a coincidence or not.

Frank was a renowned clarinet mouthpiece maker and worked for some time in the Chicago and Cicero area, later moving to Ann Arbor, Mich to work with the U of M. band.

He would have been my mothers' uncle. My mother was Mary Kaspar. If this sounds like it could be the same family I would be deligted to hear from you. Camille Smith

My grandfather was the brother of Frank Kaspar from Cicero,IL..... My dad, changed the spelling Kaspar to Kasper as a young man.....I am aware of my great uncle's contribution to the mfg of mouthpieces.....my dad played clarinet as did my grandfather, who died in 1948...he played in a symphony in California..... I didn't know much about Frank other than he also lived in Michigan and somehow was connected to the university there....twice in my life, perfect strangers have asked me if I was related to Frank Kaspar....both of these fellows were middle-aged clarinetists, and spoke highly of the mouthpieces produced by Kaspar....just now trying to do some research on this relative. Respectfully, Wayne Kasper

Hi
I'm looking for information on George(Georgius) and Magdelena (or Madeline) Kaspar. Here's what I know: George (born bet. 1849-1854 in Germany, possibly Dresden) and Magdelena (Heidenreich or Heidewreich) (born bet. 1849-1854) immigrated abt. 1870. According to the 1900 census, they had 12 children, 8 living - Henry, William, Otto, John, Frederick, Ludwig (may have been George Ludwig), Lena & Andrew. Henry married Julia Grimm. they had Johann (John) Henry kaspar (B- 10/25/1908-NY, D-6/19/1991-FL). Johann (John) married Madeline Fettig. Sometime after 1908, Johann's (John) last name was changed to Kasper. Johann and Madeline had Kenneth, Sharon, and Carol Kasper and Henry John Kaspar. Notice the descrepany in the spelling of the last name.
Lori
