Harold J. Kassing, 59, 1522 Bellevue Ave., died Saturday in Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and in 1946 moved to Eau Claire, where he married Bernice Hagmann April 17, 1948. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was business representative for Local 19, Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen of Wisconsin, and for Eau Claire Building and Construction and Trades Council, and the first vice president of Wisconsin State Conference of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman, AFL-CIO.
He served on the boards of directors of United Way, MegaFoods, Royal Credit Union and Labor Temple Association, on the apprenticeship board of District One Technical Institute- Eau Claire and was on the Private Industry Council.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Barbara Zich, Altoona; four sons, Steve, Ed, Patrick, all of Eau Claire, David, Coon Rapids, Minn.; two brothers, Leland, Florissant, Mo., Cecil, Great Falls, Mont.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and until services Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home, where a public rosary and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
