My Mother was Evelyn Kasson. Her older sister was a Maude Kasson.Maude had an Aunt named Maude who married Carl Blume they lived on school house hill rd. in Mehoopany,Pa.They had no childeren.The nice never married or had childeren.Leroy was in the family some where but not sure right now. GRANVILLE: Helen E. Kasson 85, of Granville, Ohio died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.

She was born in McKean Township, Licking County, Ohio August 31, 1925 to the late Helen Brady and George Gosnell.

A graduate of Granville High School and a lifetime member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Helen will be remembered as a caring mother and grandmother.
She was an advocate for many causes and volunteered her time with the Granville Recycling Center, Granville Thrift Shop, and Alzheimer's Association.
She was a 20 gallon blood donor with the American Red Cross.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, and cake decorating. These talents were shared with many, especially at Christmas when she would gift her pecan rolls. She prepared her sons' favorite desserts on their birthdays every year.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Kasson of Granville, Ohio, Phil and Nita Kasson of Newark, Ohio, Jeff and Christie Kasson of Granville and Carol Kasson of Denver, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Romona Gosnell, Tom and Donna Gosnell, and Sylvia Gosnell, all of Newark, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bernie Arrington, Rebecca Colangelo, and Kay and Skip McArtor all of Heath, Ohio, Irene Ferroni of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Leonard Oney of Whitehall; grandchildren and their spouses, David Kasson, Kate and Tim Cremean, Kris Kasson, Jennifer Kasson, Jessica and John Foss, and Leah and Clyde Martinez; great grandchildren, David and Emily Cremean, Brooke, Autumn, Cora, and Dakota Martinez; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lloyd Kasson, who died in 2002; son, Lloyd Gary Kasson; grandson, Jason Kasson; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kasson; brother, Frank Gosnell; three sisters, Carolyn Oney, Ann Gosnell, and Jean Brooks; and three brothers-in-law, Ned Colangelo, Nick Ferroni, and George Brooks.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Helen E. Kasson, 85, of Granville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Liberty United Methodist Church, 3375 Dutch Lane Road, Johnstown, Ohio with the Rev. Roger Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 23, 2011, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville, Ohio. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.

My name is Kasson Crooker. My great, great, great grandfather was Samuel Cooper of Victor/Farmington, NY (Volunton?, NY). His son was Ambrose Kasson Cooper. I have the tombstone for Ambrose Kasson Cooper that was in the Cooper/Brown/Allen Cemetery in Farmington, NY before it was distroyed to make way for the Finger Lakes Racetrack. Correction:

Matilda was Henry's first marriage. He left Matilda (divorced?) and remarried Louise Mary Weber, and had a larger family with her.

Matilda & Henry also had Thurston Russell & Daniel Henry... Lydia's full siblings.

looking for any information on the following people:

Lydia May Kasson (married name DeMoss)
Lydia's father: Henry Dennis Kasson
Lydia's mother: Matilda L. Powell (married names Kasson & Morgan)
Henry's father: Russell Kasson
Henry's mother: Eliza A. Henry (married name Kasson)

Lydia was my great-grandmother and it is assumed she was of Native American descent. This was not openly admitted "back then" though, so we know nothing of her true roots. That is why I am looking directly at her, and the generations that came just before her. I know, in speaking with my family, that she was also called "Lydie"... and I have also seen alternate spellings to her name, including Lida & Ida, while searching online (therefore I cannot verify these being legitimate)

Henry Dennis Kasson was Lydia's father, his second marriage was to Lydia's mother, Matilda L. Powell. I cannot find anything on Matilda, so I am just as actively looking at her. The only thing I have found was that Matilda remarried a Joseph Morgan after Henry's death.

Henry & Matilda were both born in Penn and moved to NE. Lydia was born and lived her life in NE, as does much of my family to this day.

Dexter's parents were Ephraim Kasson and Maria Noonan. They were from Broadalbin, New York, which is in Fulton County. Eprhraim was the son of Robert Kasson and Polly Brockway. Robert was the son of Robert Kasson (who served in the French & Indian war, and the Revolutionary war) and Janet (Jennie) Gaston. They were originally from Connecticut, and settled in Broadalbin after the revolution.

Did you ever find anything about Dexter N. Kasson? I have his civil war sword, it was passed down in my family and I was trying to get info on him. Everybody that new something has passed away. The only info that I know is what I have found on the internet.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Darrel D. Kasson, 43, of Florence, Ariz., died Mar. 4 in Tikrit, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle at Bayji, Iraq. He was assigned to the 259th Security Forces Company, Phoenix.

Not sure if this is the one, but I have a Maud B Kasson b. abt Feb 1880 in PA to Leroy H Kasson. Don't know mother's name, she died shortly after Maud's birth as seen in 1880 census. Not that PA is ND.....

Sadia Kasson (1786-1834) was daughter of Capt. Adam Kasson (1743-1828) and Dorothy Taft (1751-1829). The Kasson book says kids were John Stevens Strong, Salmon Strong, Kasson Strong, and James Madison Strong (no dates).

Looking for information on Elizabeth or Betsey Gibson, born 27 Oct 1782 in New Marlborough, Berkshire county, MA, to John Gibson (1740-1797) and Alice Kasson (b.1747). The Kasson book says "Betsey had 5 children, 2 boys, 3 girls" by 1816. Who was her husband? Children? Where did she live? One brother stayed in New Marlborough, several siblings lived in Oneida county, NY.

Searching for parentage info. and more..about Cordelia Kasson of Johnstown Twp,Licking County, Ohio who married Timothy Barnum in same shortly after the civil war.
I have all of the children produced from this Kasson/Barnum marriage if anyone needs them. The marriage produced 4 children.
Delia died 1894 of Consumption and is buried in Monroe Twp, Licking Co. Ohio.
Another researcher suggested she may have been born Adelia Kasson.
Any info. whatsoever or possible leads I might follow would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Dexter N Kasson who was the the son of Ephraim Kasson and Maria Nooman who both lived in Broadalbin, New York. Dexter was born February 8, 1840 and I have him in the 1850 census and page 28 in the Kasson family history

Just saw this reference to the Kasson family and thought I'd post it. The article (see below) makes mention of Asa Dains' pension application file W6960 in publication M804, which includes statements from Asa's widow, Nancy (Kasson) Dains and her brother and sister-in-law Samuel and Mary Kasson.

Mamie was born November 20,1893 in Liberty Township, Licking County, Ohio to Albert or Sherman Cook and Nancy Drake Cook. On November 11, 1914 Mamie married Austin Kasson who was born May 14, 1884 in Liberty Township, Licking County, Ohio. Austin died July 24, 1968 and Mamie died Dec. 27, 1969. My Great grandmother is Gracia Kasson and I knew her sister is Sybil and her mother was Anna R Haggart. My problem is that my family tree dictated by Gracia's only child Therese lists Anna R. Haggart's husband as Robert Kasson (a civil war soldier- and I have found service records) The Kasson information I find posted here lists Robert instead as Joseph M. (same as his father, Joseph Milton)? Is this confirmed?
