My Grandfather, Franz Friedrich August Kasten, was born in Halberstadt, Germany in 1873 and grew up in Wasserleben. His father's name was Heinrich and his mother was Marie Goebel. He got a certificate from the Fleischer's (butcher's) Guild in Schwanebeck in 1889. He served in the Calvalry and immigrated through New York in 1896. In 1902 he became a naturalized citizen in Chicago and in 1901 married Wilhelmina Elsie Carolina Christina (Minnie) Rehberg in Homewood, IL. His son, Charles, was my father. They lived in Chicago and Gary, Indiana. We know nothing about my Grandfather's family except that one of his brothers was named Robert and had an inn in Wasserleben. Can anyone fill in any blanks?
