Just found this Kastenhuber/Cazenovia thread -- have in my Barr line -- John Bar (with umlaut over the A) b. 1826, near Kulmbach, Upper Bavaria - came to US in 1846-47, went to Syracuse, NY, worked in The Syracuse House hotel where he met & married Mary Casenovia, b 1831. Does this Mary Casenovia/Kastenhuber fit into anyone's information on this family?

I AM NOT RELATED BUT I FOUND2 KASTENHUBER ON IMMIGRATION DISK. FREDERICK 30 CAME HERE 4/24/1888 AND FRITZ 16 CAME HERE 9/17/1877.

Frank (Franz) Kastenhuber and family arrived in the US in 1852 from Upper Austria. They settled on a small farm in Verona, NY and in about 1865 they moved to another farm in Lyons, Wayne, NY. Mary (Anna Maria), Frank's wife, died in Lyons in 1880 and Frank died there in 1882.

I do not have Frank's pedigree. On the ship's log, his birthplace is listed as Gmunden, Austria.

I was surprised to find the listing in the 1860 Verona, NY Census for Michael Kastenhuber and family. The surname is found very infrequently and I have always felt there must be some relationship. I am planning to do more research on this family and it will be interesting to see if a relationship turns up.

I was born in Ithaca, NY 6.8.73. I am the son of Kenneth Kastenhuber of Trumanburg, NY. Russell Kastenhuber, also of Trumansburg, NY was my grandfather. I do not know much more than this. Any assistance would be appreciated.

As you can see, I happen to be of the same name. I may have talked to you at one time, I'm not sure. My father was Harry, grandfather Fred, brother to Edwin.

More children found that belong to Michael and Catharine Kastenhuber.

Michael ..b-1805 Baveria Germany
Wife Katherine.
Dau...Barbara Kastenhuber...she mar-John Morgan and known residency in 1882 is Denver Colorado.

Dau...Rosana Kastenhuber...she mar-Michael Lehner and in 1882 resided in Stanton ,clay co., Indiana.

Dau...Elizabeth Kastenhuber...she mar- Oscar Aurand, (not sure of spelling on last name) residency in1882 ,Durhamville NY,near Varona NY.

Son...John George Kastenhuber...who resided with his father Michael in Varona NY in 1882 at his fathers death.We think John went by George J....not positive.

All were listed in Michaels will packet.Ages and birth place unknown.

Michael Kastenhuber, born @1805 Baveria Germany.
wife ,Catharine,born @1804 Baveria Germany
Son, George J.,born 1841 Baveria Germany.

This family of Kastenhubers were found living first in Varona , Oneida Co.,NY...in 1860 census.(also 1970 &1880.
The name changed back and forth between Kastenhuber and Cazenovia. Listed in 1860 Varona NY is a Frank Kastenhuber born @ 1800 Baveria Germany and wife Mary. Frank is listed under Kastenhuber while Michael is listed under Cazenovia with his son George.
Frank is a possiable brother to Michael due to the closness in age.I would like more information on this family to add to our records.

Edwin G. Kastenhuber

Looking for the family of Edwin Gustav Kastenhuber who was born in N.y. State on Jan 31, 1882. He married Evelyn Mumper of York, Pa. and Had one daughter Ruth Irene. He died in Easton, Md. in Oct. 1964. Any help will be appreciated. Flo Hemming
