Hi everyone, I am interested in finding info on a Florence Katterhenry. In June, 1925, Florence Voss married Edwin Katterhenry. in Sheboygan, WI. The marriage announcement says she was a teacher and her husband was ordained to be a minister in the Grace Reformed Church in Koehler, Wis. Florence died in Dec. 1982 in St. Marys, Ohio, Auglaize County. I haven't been able to find any other info on this family. Even checking the census, I haven't been able to locate them in the 1930 census. Am interested in any info on this family. thanks.

The Katter, Katterjohn, Katterhenry, etc. names all originate from one extended family that lived around Ladbergen, Germany (County of Tecklenburg)in the Westphalia area of Northern Germany (near Holland. Originally the name was supposed to have been spelled as Koetter-. Quite a few Katters moved to America around 1859. They settled originally in and around New Knoxville, Ohio, then a number of them moved to Iowa. Many settled in Garner, Iowa. An affiliated German family is the Griemanns. In Germany, the Katters were primarily Lutherans. They do have a coat of arms.

The Katter family geneologist is Marvel Griffen-Wagner, 505 East 2nd Street, Morris, Minnesota. Her phone number is 320/589-4613. She is probably in her late seventies, so if you want extensive info. about the family, I would contact her soon. She has published volumes on the Katter family and knows a great deal about them (us). Sincerely, Lisa Katter-Jackson
