Jeanne L. Webb,

This might be the info that you are seeking. I have a Michael K. Kauffman (b. 1807 in Lancaster Co., PA). His wife was Susann "Unknown Maiden Name" (b. 1812 in Lancaster Co., PA). This birth date is not the 1793 reported in your inquiry. Michael and Susann had six children all born in Lancaster Co. between 1833 and 1849. When did your Susan marry Abraham Allison? If this marriage occurred after 1849, this might be the Kauffman that you seek.

Ray Richardson (fsa00162)

It's really very nice of you to share. Yes, it was her maiden name. She married Abraham Allison & they were buried in the Rutt family graveyard in East Donegal township. It's certainly very possible her family members are in the kauffman Cemetery, but I don't know their names. Thank you again. Jeanne

I have recently visited Annville, Lebanon Co., PA and found the Kauffman Cemetery just north of Annville. I have made a request of the "historian of the Cemetery" to provide me with a list of the Kauffmans who were buried there. I have yet to hear from her. The tombstones are difficult to decipher, but they reach back into the 18th century. Jacob L. Kauffman b. 1794 was decipher. When I receive the list I will notify you if there is a Susan Kauffman. Is Susan Kauffman her maiden name?

Seeking descendants of immigrant Michael Kauffman (1717)

I am actively looking for new participants for the Kauffman DNA genealogy project. I am personally VERY interested in recruiting additional descendants of immigrant Michael Kauffman. I descend from immiigrant Jacob Kauffman (b1737). The dna results show that the two are closely related somewhere back in Europe/Germany.

For more details about the DNA results see https://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Kauffman.

Note that descendants of immigrants Michael and Jacob Kauffman have a unique marker value of DYS425=null that will not be found in other Kauffman lineages. This marker can be tested for at familytreedna.com.

On a side note a paper was released early last week where they analyzed the DNA from some 7th century Bavarian warriors. What is really interesting is that the limited DNA results place these warriors as close genetic cousins to Michael and Jacob. This Kauffman line could be barbarian at heart!

I'm looking for information on a Guy or Ruth Kaufmann (could have been Kaufmann or Coffman) who were born in about 1893. They may have been husband and wife but more likely brother and sister.

They were friends of a great aunt Cornelia Ellen Lines, of Curwensville, Clearfield Co., PA, and I have a couple of pictures of them together while visiting in Altoona, PA in 1910. See the attached photos.

The first attached photo is my great aunt with Guy Kaufmann and the second is with Ruth Kaufmann (standing).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kauffmans in Pawnee co. Kansas?

I am tracing a family member who married John Kauffman in 1869 in Chester co. PA. They along with two young children are on the 1880 census in Pawnee co. Kansas. There is nothing in family lore that would indicate what prompted them to make such a move. We know that John and Belle did not stay long and returned to the Logan co. area of Ohio within a few years. Is there any Kauffman link to that area of Kansas? Thanks for your help.

The father Charles is said to have been a saloon owner in Pennsylvania possibly Philadelphia. Charles McClell (known as Clell) had several brothers including Edward, Hoadly, Walter, & Morris. He had 2 sisters, Myrtle & Nora. At some point the family moved to Urbana, Ohio. He married Alverna Parker Kauffman in 1895. They had 13 children and eventually moved to Michigan. It has been said Clell was a railroad worker then a factory worker in Michigan.

John & Maggie Kauffman of IL

Just recently started a family tree for my husband. We know his direct line back to John Kauffman b. Aug 1856 in IL m. Margret Fairfield (b. 1856) Mar. 1879 but I cannot find a death record for either. Per the 1900 Fed Census, they had 4 children Annie b 1882, John b. 1891, Maggie b. 1886, and Andrew (my husband's grandfather) b. 1898. John's sister, Theresa b. 1866, was living with him. Am looking for John and Theresa's parents. I believe they were born in Germany and came to the states around 1850 but cannot find any documentation to confirm this theory. Any help would be great.

Did find Theresa (Therese) on 1870 census with her father Henry and Mother Dorothea but John was not listed. Any suggestions?

I have much information on the Dunlaps which I've collected but does not necessarily belong to my specific family tree but are generations removed.

I did find a THOMAS DUNLAP son of Dvaid Thomas Dunlap.
Hi Helen,

You may be the person who can finally solve the mystery of my father's Kauffman/Coffmans. As I've been researching my genealogy, the Kauffmans/Coffmans have been elusive. I have found my grandfather, first listed as General Coffman b:1888 in TN, later listed as General Kauffman, also listed as General Harrison K. Kauffman; he was married to Lula Murray, b: 1895 in TN (I can't seem to find anything on her either). General is allegedly his first name, not his rank as I have found a WWI military card that indicates he didn't serve.

The only reference to his father's name I can find is General (also) I Coffman b:1858 in TN, m:Sallie Coffman (no maiden name found), b:1861 in TN.

I have found on the 1900 census that he was listed as General Coffman, 11 years old; his mother was "Sallie Coffman" b: Dec. 1861, age 38 at the time of the census and marital status is listed as widowed.

Any information you can provide me at all would be most welcomed.

Thank you,
Karen (Kauffman) Azzopardi
karenklambert@aol.com

The Kauffman names listed sound like my husband's family.
His ancestor was on the Virtuous Grace in 1737; however, his family settled in Missouri. Does you book trace the Christian K Kauffman in Missouri.
Thanks, Carolyn
