Valerie Ann Hoover, the daughter of Arthur Robert and Carla (Gentry) Kaufman was born on September 6, 1956 at Friend, Nebraska. She was baptized at Congregational Church in Friend. She attended school at Friend and graduated in 1974 from Friend High School. Valerie then attended the Court Reporter School in Denver COO. Following her schooling Valerie worked for the State of Nebraska Unemployment Claims Division.
On June 11, 1985 Valerie was united in marriage to John Hoover at the Offutt Airforce Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. Valerie was involved with the Food and Beverage Industry in the Omaha area. In 1998 Valerie and John moved to Albion where she has worked as a cook at Billy Bobs Bar, the Junction, and Boone Central Schools.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Valarie also served on the Board of Directors at Lake Ericson and belonged to the Monday night Bowling League.
On Tuesday evening, April 15, 2008 Valerie passed away following a short battle with cancer at the Boone County Health Center in Albion at 51 years of age.
She is survived by her husband John, her mother Carla Kaufman both of Albion, and her sister Vicki Kaufman of Akron, NE; along with a niece, nephews, and friends.
Valerie was preceded in death by her father Arthur Robert, and her brother Robert Bradley.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion with Rev. Mary Avidano officiating. Burial will be at the Bonanza Akron Cemetery rural Albion. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
