obit fyi - Elizabeth Josephine KAUP West, 1922 ILL. - 2007 CA.

not related - for yo ur info

Daily Press
Victorville, San Bernardino, CA.
29 Nov 2007 B2

ELIZABETH WEST

Elizabeth “Liz” Josephine West, 85, died Nov. 25, 2007. She was a resident of Hesperia for 28 years. Previously she had lived in Sylmar. She was born Nov. 18, 1922 in Bloomington, Ill.
She had been retired from the state of California for 28 years. She was a member of the Hesperia Leisure League and Elks Lodge.
Liz’s talents were dancing, jewelry making and crocheting, and she was an avid crafter. She sewed clothes for her kids and shirts for her sons-in-law, and loved every minute of it. She crocheted everything from doilies to full tablecloths. We can only guess how many people will be putting up Christmas decorations this year that she made and gave to friends and family. Liz was famous for her baking and renowned for her apple pie. To the delight of her family, every holiday included one.
Liz loved to play dice and card games. There was never a family gathering that didn’t include games around the dining room table. She looked forward to meeting her friends twice a week with her bunko group.
Above all Liz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and most recently a proud great - grandmother. After family, her great passion was polka dancing with her husband and partner of 64 years, Rex. Together they traveled the country, dancing their way through polka festivals and parties. Surrounded by family and friends they danced their last dance Friday night at the Hesperia Leisure League dance.
Liz was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara; sisters Ann Fischer, Mary Leckner, Lena Andrews, Theresa McKinley and Kate Kaup; and brother Joe Kaup.
She is survived by her husband, Rex Roy West; daughters Michelle West, Linda West Curry, Nancy West Short and Janice Horner; son Ronald Roy West; brothers Frank Kaup and Charles Kaup; sister Rose Trimby; grandchildren Greg West, Rob West and Makenzie West; and great-grandchild, Hailey West.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation, in memory of Elizabeth West, a cancer survivor, to the Breast Cancer Foundation, or to a charity of your choice. The West Family thanks you.
An aunt of mine, Angela Riggs wrote a book(fiction) about our family, (not sure of the name, cannot find my copy) as well as doing a lot of research.

Paul

There are several Paul Kaup's out here. You are from the Nebraska KAUP"S who came to USA in 1868 via New Orleans. My family came to America (The Colonies) over 100 years before yours. My Family came here in 1748 and settled in Pennsylvania. I Have the book on your family that was written in 1991 by Sister Maureen Murphy To the best of my knowledge the families are not related. Possibly a very very very distant connection in Germany but not in the US

What is your age and the names of your grandparents? If I had this info I could tell you if you were shown in Sister Murphy's book

I believe you are in the same position as all other Kaup genealogists. Attempting to get verifialble information on the Kaup family in the period from 171740 to about 1800 is very difficult. I been workingb on my family for over 30 years and this seem to be a blank spot for all of us. Too many churcvh records were carried in the preachers saddle backs and not permanently filled. Let me kon if you find anything, I would be interested.

My father (Arthur Pettay) was born in Woodward, Ok and his mother and father (Frank and __________ Pettay) lived in the Woodward, Ok area in at least in the mid to late 30's. Do these two fit into your pettay information? My father was put in foster care around 1942 and now all are deceased that could answer any questions. I believe that there is still a brother (Leslie Pettay) in the area, but I'm not sure. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Kaup Family in Wuerttemberg

Hi, I am trying to find people who are also researching the Kaup Family from Schopfloch Wuerttemberg. The earliest Kaup I have is Jakob Kaup who was married to Elizabeth STÖHR and had a daughter, Elisabeth, born Feb 24, 1748. Did she have brothers and sisters? Her mother Elizabeth was from Locherhof. Thanks

Hi, you are the only one to answer in almost a year. I am willing to 'give' the book to the right person. I can't find the names you mentioned in the book. Can you tell me who your parents are or how you connect to Anglea? I acquired this book when buying an estate and the relatives didn't want it! Geneology means alot to me and I treasure the book even tho it isn't my family ... but I want it to go to some one else who will also treasure it and is connected to Angela. Suzi

I have managed to trace my lineage as follows :
Valentine Kaub-Susannah (PA)
Frederick Kaup-Mary Rice (PA>OH)
John Coup - Esther Springer (PA>OH)
Joseph Coup - Rebecca Noecker (OH>KS>OK>?)
Wilbert Coup - Alice Elizabeth Robinson (NZ)
George Wilbert Joseph Coup - Jean Rhoda Mitchell (NZ)
Daryl Bruce Coup (NZ)

I have found many siblings for each generation and am now trying to fill in some of the details of colateral lines, and perhaps locate some long lost relatives. Wilbert lost contact with his family about the mid 1920s. If anyone is definitely linked then contact me at daryl.coup@stonebow.otago.ac.nz
If not I would still be interested in anything you may have on Kaub-Kaup-Koup-Coup. I am trying to piece together all the different lineages.
Kia Ora Paul,
Another year slips by with slow progress being made. Time to re-establish contact and exchange updates. How has your research progressed? Highlight of 2001 has been making contact with close (father's cousin!) family in America. I have established that Rebecca Ellen (Noecker) Coup died in 1897, which probably led to Joseph relinquishing his land claim in 1898.
If you are still interested in this family and still wish to exchange information contact me at daryl.coup@stonebow.otago.ac.nz
cheers and all the best with your research
daryl

Hi Suzi: I'm not sure yet how I connect to Angela or what she tells of in her book. I do have her other book - Voices of the Prairie - which tells of a prairie file in 1861 on the original Kaup homestead that took the lives of mother Elisabeth Fischer Kaup & two of the Kaup children. I have visited their gravesite in the middle of the farm field next to a giant cottonwood tree. The 1865 NE census shows the father, Joseph, & children, as follows: Joseph Kaup 50, Maria 20, Henry 18 & Catherine 12. Maria (Mary) my greatgrandmother married Charles Grovijahn in 1867 at the Catholic Cathedral in Omaha. So, from all my research, my greatgrandmother was one of the surviving children of the prairie file. Hope to hear from you soon! Thank you, Pat

Hi Jim. Received your message, cousin. My grandmother was Mary Ida Coup Moser. Her father was John Freese Coup. His father was Levi Coup after he had changed it from Kaup. His father was Peter Kaup. I have good documented evidence for those families. But the only source of information that I have on Peter's father, my mother gave me with her records from interviews with older Coup/Kaup relatives. That was in the 1970's. Do you have documents to indicate that Peter b. 1779/80 was the son of Christian b. about 1753? Do you know if they were Presbyterians?

In answer to your Question, Paul: yes, I am related to the Coup family through my grandmother, Mary Ida Coup, daughter of Minnie Bullock Coup and John Freese Coup. According to my mother's records and the Federal Census records of 1900 and1910, Minnie was born in August 1869 and died 6 Nov 1921. Mary Ida was the third of Minnie's nine children. (Pappy Coup would turn over in his grave if he knew that I put his middle name on all my records.) He hated that name, but I don't know why.I need more definitive evidence on the parents of Peter Kaup who died in the 1860's in Chillisquaque while living with his son Levi. Do you have any evidence of that Peter's parentage? Any suggestions would be appreciated.Since there were several Peter Kaups listed in the area, it is easy to get them mixed up. Looks like we are distant cousins, Paul. Glad to hear from you.

I am looking for descendants of John B. and Mary (Wallace) Kaup. Their known children were Alfred (possibly William Alfred or Alfred William), Edward (possibly James Edward or Edward James), and Sarah M. In the 1880 Census for Carroll County, Indiana, it shows Alfred as being born in Missouri. The other two children were born in Indiana. Mary (Wallace) Kaup was born in Miami County, Ohio, and moved with her parents and other siblings to Carroll County, Indiana. She was the oldest of the family. Her youngest brother James was my g-g-grandfather. Mary and John B. Kaup were married in Carroll County, Indiana. It looks as though after they were married that they lived in Missouri for a time, then moved back to Indiana. After 1880, I am not able to find them in Indiana. I may have found a lead that shows that they were back in Missouri, possibly Chariton County, but I am not sure.
