hi gavin i will help you all i can but the kayes are a very big family.
buff had more then one wife.
then names in the bake's and kaye's families are much the same and people
get mixed up.
my family go back to the prigg baker's so the scott's, kayes are my family.
some of the post about the family are not quite wright.

My Grandmother was Grace Kayes the daughter of Richard Kayes and Margaret Evans Baxter and Richard was the brother of William (Buff Bill) Kayes.

Would like to share information with you if possible.

caroline kayes married thomas baker. her parents were buff bill and his first wife harriet reader. lizzie baker married buff bill as second wife and she was thomas bakers sister.
caroline and thomas only had four sons .the baker boys i now this as my grand mar was thomas sister.

Sorry no ancestors that early, my father James Kayes moved to Canada in the 1970s. His father and mother Lionel and Dora Kayes (maiden Lokes)lived in Argentina, my grandfather's parents were British. So maybe much further back we were related who knows? Spelling is close

My name is Audrey Kayes, I have a sister Christina Kayes. We live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. My late father James Lionel Kayes moved to Montreal from Buenos Aires, Argentina in the 1960s to study at McGill University. His father, Lionel Kayes, moved from England to Buenos Aires (or maybe his parents had moved and he was born in Argentina, I am not sure). A bit of a stretch across the pond but I thought you might find it interesting. We also have some relatives in Zimbabwe, unfortunately I do not have their names. There was a second marriage somewhere along the family tree which is where they come into the picture. I am fascinated how there never seem to be too many Kayes in one given area but that there seem to be Kayes in many areas quite separate from each other. You could say that we Kayes are both few and far between (lol)

Hello Alan. My name is james kays. I live in united states.I dont know if we are related or not, but my ancestors came from scottland or Ireland in the 1700s. Wondered if you have any ancestors that came to america in the 1700s.

Hi Shannon. My name is Jane and my father was the son of Arthur Kayes.Dad was born in Toronto, Ontario.on August 20, 1924. My grandparents were from Edinburgh, Scotland. Their names were Arthur Kayes and Evelyn Savory. I feel badly that I didn't ask my Grandmother questions about their background before she died. The only thing I remember is her showing me a very old and yellowed nwespaper clipping about my relatives in a circus. I was very young at the time and I was more interested about the lions mentioned then the names of the people in the article! I'm really curious to hear from you to see how much info. you've been able to accumulate.

I'm realated to the Kayes through my great great grandmother who was Caroline Baker. Her mother was a Kayes. I believe it was Lizzie Kayes. Her brothers were the Baker Boys. My great grandmother Caroline Butcher was in the Buff Bill's Circus and I have a picture of her with Buff Bill (William Kayes). My great grandmother's brother was the originator of the Paulo's circus. My grandmother Caroline Damsell (nee Atkinson) was also in many different circuses and was a champion with the laso. My father remembers his grandmother very well. I have just come back from a holiday in England where our family tree was much discussed. It would be interesting to see what info you have.
