PLEASE NOTE, THIS WAS POSTED FOR REFERENCE ONLY. I AM NOT RELATED TO, NOR AM I RESEARCHING THIS FAMILY, I’VE ONLY DONE A COPY AND PASTE FROM OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER FYI.

THIS INFO HAS BEEN POSTED WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE EDITOR OF THE COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD.

Roy A. Kayler
Posted: Tuesday, Dec 12, 2006 - 04:04:55 pm PST

Roy A. Kayler, 81, of Anacortes, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at Island Hospital in Anacortes.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1925 in Winchester, Idaho, the son of Roy and Lena (Snyder) Kayler. Roy attended grade school in Winchester until the depression during which time the family moved to Moscow, Idaho where he graduated from High School. After graduation Roy joined the U.S. Navy and served as a sonar operator aboard the USS Smalley during WW II in the Aleutian Chain, the Kurile Islands and the South Pacific. At the end of the war he moved back to Moscow where he and a high school friend started a sawmill and home construction business.

In 1954 he moved to Moses Lake and operated a feedlot named the Short Ranch until 1972. Roy was named Washington Cattle Feeder of the year in 1959 and was also a charter member of the Moses Lake Country Club and the Moses Lake B.P.O.E. The family moved to Anacortes in 1972 and he became a commercial fisherman in Alaska during the fishing season aboard his troller Argo. During the off season he continued to be a builder and built everything from benches to trebuchet in his shop where he enjoyed any company that would gather around him. Over a period of thirty plus years Roy canoed from the 26th parallel in Florida to the 61st parallel in Alaska and the Northwest Territory, including Great Slave Lake, the upper Missouri, Peace and McKenzie rivers. While living in Anacortes, he was a member of the United Methodist Church. At his core was his love for and interest in people, with whom he shared his humor and curiosity. He cherished his family and friends, and was a surrogate grandfather to many in Moses Lake and Anacortes as well as being a purveyor of sage advice to many. Roy used his conversations and questions to make us think beyond conventional wisdom, theory and practice. He is missed, but his legacy of laughter and love survives. Roy is survived by his wife, Audrey, at the family home in Anacortes; three sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Donna Kayler of Wenatchee, Rex and Deborah Lytle of Naches, and Wayne and Jennifer Lytle of Anacortes; grandchildren, Keith and Jeff Kayler of Wenatchee, Jason and wife Amanda Antijunti and children of Yakima, Patty and husband Jeremy Ramirez and children of Yakima, Jordan, Stuart, Lauren and Matthew Lytle of Anacortes and CPO Luke and wife Karla Cutburth and son of San Francisco, Calif.

Memorials may be given to Friends of the Forest or UMCORE Children's Fund c/o United Methodist Church, 2201 H Avenue, Anacortes, WA 98221. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the United Methodist Church of Anacortes. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. of Anacortes. To share memories of Roy, please sign the online guest register at www.evanschapel.com.
I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

I am attempting to locate any information on "Lewis Jacob Kaylor" who was
born in Pipe Co. Ill./Ind. He married Miranda Catherine
Cheesemen/Chesseman some time around 1854 and they had five children:
Alice; Charles; George; Ruby Marrie; and Clara. Miranda had two sons
from two previous marriages: Ceph and ???
Have not been able to find anything on Lewis Jacob and I thought there
might be since he was blind at his death and lived with his youngest
daughter, Clara in Kansas City, Kansas. The family spent most of Ruby's
(my grandmother's) life in Kansas.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated.
Thanks
anne

Does anyone have any information on the history or origin of the Kaylor name that they would like to share with me? I know that "Kaylor" is probably the Amercanized spelling of Koehler, Kehlor, etc. My husband's family is in the Lancaster Co. area of Pennsylvania....but we're pretty sure their ancestors came from the Palatinate area in Germany. I would appreciate any information on this name! Thanks!

George Kaylor & Mary Harmon

II'm trying to find some information about the wife of George Kaylor, who lived in Lincoln County, NC during the early 1800's. I've read some reports that indicate George married a Mary Harmon in Germany and then came to America right after that. In fact, George Kaylor appears on the 1820 census listed very close to two men with the last name of Harmon. I've also learned that a Gerhard Kaylor married a Mary Harmon in Bremen, Germany in 1786, but I have no way to confirm if that is the same person as the George Kaylor I'm referring to. These are tantalizing clues, but not enough to prove anything for certain. If anyone out there can provide any information on these two people I would greatly appreciate it.

I was wondering if anyone has a Melvina Kaylor b. abt. 1822, from Washington County, VA in their records. She married William Albert Mann in 1838 and then married James Lewis in 1849. Both marriages took place in Washington County, VA. She moved to Boone County, WV sometime before 1850 with James Lewis and her 3 children from William Albert Mann and one of their own. I am wondering who her parents were and any other info that anyone may have.

Peggy

George Kaylor of Lincoln Co., NC

I am searching for more information on George Kaylor, father of Linnie or Sienna Kaylor who married Jacob Jones Dellinger in Catawba County in 1850. George Kaylor was the grantor in a division granted to M.J. Whittenburg and another granted to William Whittenburg in Lincoln Co. in 1804. George Kaylor is found in the 1810 Lincoln Co., NC census. There are two George Kaylors in Lincoln Co. in 1820: one age 45 or above with 7 boys under age 16, 2 girls under 10, and one woman age 26-45; the other age 26-45 with 2 boys under 10, one girl under 10, and one woman age 16-26. Catherine Kaylor is listed very close to both of these George Kaylors in the 1820 Lincoln Co. census; she is 45 or older with one woman age 26-45 and one girl under 10 in the household. George Kaylor was the grantor in a deed to Catherine Kaylor in 1819, and also the grantee in a deed from Catherine Kaylor in 1819. George Kaylor does not appear in the NC census after 1820.

I have not proven his parents or where they came from. Possible parents are Heinrich Kehler and Elizabeth Fischer from Berks Co, Pa. Leonard fought in the war of 1812 along with his son Peter. Leonards first three children were baptized in Westmoreland Co (Andrew,Jacob, and Peter) The last two children are belived to have been born in Armstrong Co (Leonard and Mary Ann).Would appreciate any information that you have concerning this family. I have quite a bit of information on the decendants that I will share. Thank you, Margaret

KAYLOR - CAMBRIA CO. - LORETTO

I am searching for information on the Kaylor's who settled in Cambria Co. about the same time Father Galitzin arrived. I have reason to believe there may be a connection with these Kaylors and my gggrandfather Aloys Kaylor. Father Galitzen would stay with him and his family when he came to Pittsburgh, and several members of their family travelled to Loretto to visit. Aloysius Koehler immigrated from the area of Wuerttenberg Germany in 1831. When he arrived in America the spelling of his name was changed to Kaylor. He arrived with his wife Josephine Kuntz Kaylor and their five children; Mary Elizabeth, John George, Marianna, Jacob and Zezilia, born in America were Christina, Edward and Joseph. Aloys settled in Butler Co., Pa. and then moved to Allegheny County, Pittsburgh. His parents in Germany were Wieband Jacob Koehler and Amelia Maria Haas.

Can anyone connect with these Kaylors?

Kaylor, Shuck, of Raleigh, Greenbrier, Fayette Counties

My great grandparents John Kaylor and Josie Shuck were the parents of Ollie Elizabeth Kaylor Lloyd b: 02 NOV 1890. John Kaylor, (as the stories go) deputy sheriff of Raleigh Co. during the late 1800's and early 1900's was shot in the line of duty. I found a news item-"Kidnapping Episode Created Senastion in Raiegh and Mercer Counties In 1918" - not sure of the date of this article, but John's name as Kaler. Here are some of the other deputy names: C. R. Harless, Luther, Cole, H. P. Stone, John Kaler and Russell Gautier. Sheriff was W. L. Foster. I would like to know what years John was a deputy sheriff and when and the details of his death. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, Josie married George S. Colvin sometime before the 1920 census Kanawha Co. and then moved to Columbus, OH, where in the 1950's I remember visiting them there. I never met John Kaylor. Any information is welcomed.
Email: hascrafts@aol.com
June Holbrook

K.O. Kaylor won a Olympic gold medal sometime in the 1920,s to the 1930's for Boxing and a silver medal for scoccer. He died last year his real name was Joe Kaylor. He was a bit of a crazy man in the 1980's,he was always drunk like most Kaylor's in my family. He would throw beer bottles at cars and curse everyone in the street and everytime I would see him I would take him to the Bar and buy him a few drinks and everytime he would start a fight with the biggest guy in the Bar. I would always ask him about his past but he would never tell me. 1 story he told me was that there were 3 brother's named von kaylor and they owned a candy factory in Europe in the 1800's,he told me that they stole alot of money from their investers and went to Ireland and dropped the Von from their name and soon came to the USA.. Those this sound familar to anyone? if so please let me know.

Lucinda Jane Kaylor b.1848/John S. Miller/Estill Co., Ky.

I am trying to find family descendants of Lucinda Jane Kaylor born 1848 in Estill Co., Ky., and died in 1891. She is buried on the Joe Christian Farm near Valley View, Ky. She married John S. Miller on May 17, 1865 in Bybee, Estill Co., Ky. Her parents were John Kaylor and Polly Abrams. Lucinda is my Great grandmother and I have one picture that the family THINKS is her. Funny that our family has pictures of her sister Polly's family but none of Lucinda. Her husband was not a good husband or father, leaving for her long periods of time. She took in washings from the saw mill workers to support her family. Her young son fell into a kettle of water that was being used to wash clothes. He died, being the age of 2. Lucinda took to her bed and her husband came home from one of his long trips and saw the dead boy laying there and Lucinda physically ill in bed. He turned around and left, never to return. Lucinda died within 5 years of her son. I'd really like to find out more about her and find some more pictures of her.

This is a German Cemetery, some words transcribed on the stones are in German (i.e...born, died) Although this is listed as David Kaylor Cemetery, no stone could be found for David. Perhaps he was the land owner of the area at one time?

"Slim" Kaylor

Am looking for a gentleman named Slim Kaylor. From the information that I have, he was in or around Hickory, NC, used to own/manage a furniture store and carried on the Kaylor tradition of furniture making. A chair made by him (and possibly his ancestors) was sold to several furniture companies, speigal and montgomery wards. I believe it was called the No. 258(or something similar). If anyone knows Slim or any of this relatives, I would love to see and hopefully purchase one of the chairs. Please contact me at pkaylor@ipoftexas.com

Jordan

My Great Grandmother Kate Prior or Pryor Dozier met my Great Grandfather Jordan while she was a student in his class room. James Jordan was a School Teacher. His was 16 or 17 years older then Kate. Her family took her to Texas from Alabama to get her away from him. I think they married in Alabama, not Texas. He followed her and they married when Kate was 16 and James was somewhere around 32. I am not sure if he left a family (wife and children) or just what, I just know Kate wouldn't talk about her life much and when she did she would give conflicting informtion. Kate was born on October 30, 1972. I know nothing about her or Jim. If any one has information I would love to hear from you.

K.O. Kaylor won a gold medal in the Olympic's.3 Kaylor brothers stole $ from investors in Europe in the 1800'ss

Does this sound familar to anyone? if so please let me know.
