Okay I have roughly 184 people mapped out and need some holes filled in... so lets start with my earliest Kays.
1. John Kays b. 5/9/1737, emigrated from Midlothian(Edinburgh) with his younger brother and parents. They arrived first in PA, Philadelphia in 1750. The parents died and both were sent to Orphanages. My hole is with the younger brother... who was he....? Couple names I have come accross are a Harold or a Harry, no sure. Anyone have this connection it would be much appreciated. A gold mine of info would be John's red leather box that contained is papers including his indenture papers to a Quaker Weaver after his parents died, alothough probably destroyed somewhere over the course of time.
2. Also I'm looking for more information on Mary's Hollingshead b. 5/11/1712, Barbados, West Indies and her parents Daniel Hollingshead, b 1686 Barbados, and Ann Hollingshead, Barbados, West Indies. Mary Hollingshead is the Grand Mother of John Kays's wife, Sara Jane (Duer) Hull.
3. I'm looking for more information on John Leavitt Kays b 10/22/1847 d. 12/10/1932 Son of William J. (James?) and Rebecca Simpkins. Most important is information relating to his four brothers, James R. (Ryerson?), William J., Frank S., and George W. (Washington). They were featured in the Waterloo Evening Courier, dated Nov 8th, 1929 for their service in teh cival war. Anything about those brothers would be appreciated include a copy of that article if anyone has it. ( I have a strong feeling that this George W. Kays started the Missouri branch the of the Kays but can't substantiate that.)
4. Another son of John Kay's Thomas Sr. (?) b. 06/05/1785 Newton d. 05/09/1830 and auried in Baleville m. Mary Bale b09/18/1791 d. 02/22/1910 Sussex NJ. I have information that he was a Jusitice of the peace and own the Gist Mill from 1819 to 1830 the time of his death. His son Thomas Jr. who I have no dirth or death dates on, was admitted to the bar in 1863, and studied law un Hon A. J. Rogers in Newton. Considered one of the prominent men odf the State of New Jersey. Thomas Jr. Son Henry T. (thomas?) I have no birth, death, or marriage records but I do know he Graduated from Princeton in 1903, Was admitted to the Bar in 1910, Elected to the Assembly in 1912 on the Democratic ticket. If you have anymore info or can substantaite the above on this portion fo the line I would appreciate it.
5. My Father's Middle name is Barton and hs Father' Name Was William Barton Kays. This middle name cam from William Barton's mother, Clara Barton b. 9/27/1890 Southwest City, MO. It is rumored that this is a line to the Original Clara Barton who created the Red Cross, but I have no other relatives past this Clara... any help would be appreciated.
I have plenty of holes but I will stop here. Oh and side note I have traced the Duer Family back to abt 1563 in Charelton, Devonshire England.
