my immigrant Kays ancestor. A bunch of family members going back some generations were members of the DAR/SAR based on his Revolutionary War service. Looking at the records, I don't see it. I don't see him in Conrad Gunterman's New Jersey company, even. I'm beginning to think his service is bogus, esp. when you consider that this guy was not rich, supported himself, his wife, and four kiddies as a weaver during the Revolutionary War.How could he have been G.Washington's aide-de-camp? Does anybody out there have any sources for John Kays's service to the country?
