Lynn,

Thanks for your response. My ancestor, Thomas Kea, (c-1775 - 10/5/1835) was said to be a child of Robert Kea; I am searching for proof. Robert Kea was in Old Dobbs County, Sampson County, and then Bladen County, North Carolina.

I noticed your Robert Kea and wondered if there was a relationship.
Kea-Ferguson genealogy

Hi Jessica - can't remember just what was discussed so far - if any about the Kea-Ferguson connection. Here's what I know so far and what I suspect to be so...
For sure my dad's mother was Bertha Zula Kea, her father was Vincent Louis Kea, b. ca 1860, Calhoun County, MS. His father was Ephraim A. Kea, b. ca 1836 and d. 1864 in the Civil War, Battle of the Wilderness. For sure his parents were Joab and Francis Kea, both b. ca 1810, South Carolina. Also in MS in the mid-1800's was a Ferguson Kea who we have always felt was brother to Joab.

I believe (but have no proof) that Joab and Ferguson Kea's parents were James Kea and Elizabeth Ferguson, who both died in Chester County, South Carolina, she in 1852 and he in 1854. Her parents were Abraham Ferguson and Jane Ginderat. James Kea and Elizabeth Ferguson's parents were both from Virginia (but I don't know where at the moment), possibly Goochland County??

Ferguson Kea m. Margaret (Peggy) Jackson, ca 1830. Their known children were Joab, John, Sally and Mary Jane Rebecca.

My Joab's known children were James A., Ephraim A. Nancy and Josiah.

There are several coincidents in these fammilies....

My Joab's son James A. Kea was born in Alabama (I believe Greene County), and believe that in the 1830-40's Ferguson Kea was in this area also).

What do you think. Kathy

HI, Kathy, I think you may be researching a Kea line that I've been looking for. My Great-Grandmother's name was Sarah Kea. She was from around the Neshoba County area of Mississippi. She married Joe Adcock and their daughter Lillie Nora Adcock was my grandmother. I don't know anything about Sarah Kea at all except her name. Do you have any information at all that might include Sarah? I would think her birthdate would be in the mid-1800's. THank you for any help. Sincerely, Melinda Jones
