Hi Bridget,
My grandmother was a Keating, daughter of Michael Keating, master blacksmith Cahirciveen. I have the Keating line back to 990. I posted it on Keating Search, just google.
There was one Keating family living Coarha Beg, Valentia in 1850, family head was Lawrence Keating, that is where Lawrence Jr got his name, listed in Griffiths:

As you will see there were also Murphy's, Connell's and Sullivans as well.
I have contacted a friend on Valentia, I am awaiting his reply.
