Hi Bridget,
I have picked them up in the 1901 census:
John Keating aged 50, farmer, widower his son Michael 20 single, Katie 18 scholar, Mary 16 single, Lawrence 16 scholar, Bridget 13 scholar, Nano 10 scholar, Julia 8 scholar, John aged 4.
John was the leaseholder of the Anglo-American Cable Station which was unhabited, this was probably the temporary fillage established in the mid 1850's above the head of Foillhomurrin Bay on the ancient townland of Clynacartan where the trans atlantic cable came ashore after several attempts between 1857/1894.
John was probably the brother of Michael Keating 46 married to Mary Shea 47
Children:
Patrick 15, Mary 13
Also listed is another Michael aged 70 and his second wife Margaret (Maggie) aged 47
Children:
Ellen 34 single, Norah 22 single, Julia 20 single
Another brother of John & Michael probably was Patrick 40 married to Nanno 28.
Children:
John 2 and Bridget 3
In John Keatings book "the Keatings of Cahirciveen" John states that Patrick aged 40's father was Michael above.
Michael born 1831 was probably married firstly to Margaret Casey
Children:
Catherine born 5th September 1867
Lawrence born 25th January 1870
Margaret born 26th April 1872
1851 Griffiths lists Lawrence senior and his sons Michael & Lawrence junior leasing land from John Spotswood.
In Johns book he has references to 2
Lawrence Keatings:
Lawrence (1801-1881)
Lawrence (1884-1886) died young
Bridget I will leave it to you to work this lot out, Your John's father was either Lawrence or Michael?
Brendan
