Surnames: Keck; Monongalia
I am researching the Keck family. My gggrandfather is Jacob Keck b. 1853 in Iowa. He indicated that his father was born in Ohio. A search of the 1860 census shows a 7 yo Jacob in the household of a John and Susannah Keck in Hocking Co., Ohio. These appear to be his parents and his family. John's and Susannah's ages are 37 and 35 respectively in 1860. A search of the 1840 census shows several Keck families in the Monongalia County, Va (now WV) census. Monongalia is not far from Hocking so it seems likely that the two are connected. If there is anyone who is familiar with this family I would appreciate hearing from you.
