My Grandmother was related to Emma keedy. Her husband was Samuel Weaver. They had four children together. My grandmother {Clysta Weaver] had a grandfather named Henry Keedy. I can trace them back to Germany. Their name was Guding in Germany.

I am currently working on the genealogy of the descendants of immigrant Ludwig Keedy. I would like to know if any direct descendants of Abraham Keedy can tell me whether Abraham was the son of Ludwig or the son of John Joseph who I know was Ludwig's son. I have come across some information which leads me to believe he might have been John's son, not his brother but I can't be sure. If anyone can share any information on this man I would appreciate it. John Keedy was my great-great grandfather.

Thanks Dave. After John Newcomer died in Ogle ILL, Elizabeth married widower Joel Carll and later moved to Sterling KS. Perhaps this new info will help me find poss leads to the dau's and their cousins of Elizabeth's second husband. Regards. Bill

I am trying to trace a Joseph Blakey who may have disappeared from the Durham area in about 1855. He jumped ship in Newfoundland and married in 1858. He gave his status as widower and address as Stockton-On-Tees. Age unknown. Any leads would be appreciated.

Thats my great grandfather and mother from John Meadows father and mother. I know they are buried there in Alabama. Marcelene Kinney my aunt asked me to look for this. MARY ANN KEEDY dpob unknown(poss Washington Co MD) in early 1830s married JACOB COFFMAN(1809-1834) lived Washington Co MD and had sons Simon C. (1833-1908) and Samuel K. Several grandsons were Brethren Ministers including Rev. WALTER S. LONG(1863-1953). Mary later married a David Smith.
Mary's husband Jacob was son of JACOB HIESTAND KAUFFMAN/COFFMAN(1769-1854) and CATHERINE SLUSSER (ca1782-1815) poss dau of Peter Slusser who died Washington Co MD 1806.
I am descendant Henry Coffman(1807-1870) of this family who married Susannah LONG (1810-1863) and moved Ogle Co ILL.
Seeking anyone with info these LONG and SLUSSER families. Will share what I have Coffman descendants. Many Thanks. Bill

Distantly, maybe, but only if your ancestors came from the northeast of England. My family only crossed the Atlantic in this direction 50 years ago. As you probably know, Blakey isn't a particularly common name in most places, but there are quite a few in that part of England, specifically Newcastle-on-Tyne, Sunderland, Durham and north Yorkshire — which sounds like a big area but it's not.

Thanks for the contact. I would say that there are many relatives of yours around the Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne area as they all seem to come from one source. I received a letter from a relative of the Sunderland Keedys from Australia. As soon as I can I will get the info together. If you want to email direct I will sent you a gedcom file of similar.

My family is from Sunderland, England. Joesph Edward Keedy (born Jan. 24, 1891 in Sunderland, England; died June 1968 in Michigan, USA) was married to Catherine Dugan, also from Sunderland, but with Irish ancestors. Joesph and Catherine had three children, all born in Sunderland, Francis "Frank," Arthur "Art," and Elizabeth "Betty." The family left England for the U.S. in 1925-26 (the date is in dispute)and settled in River Rouge, Michigan, where Joseph worked for a shipbuilding company. Frank, 86, and Betty, are still alive; Art died on Sept. 28, 2001, at age 81. They have many descendents in Michigan, Wisconsin and Texas. Other Keedys who originated in Sunderland live in Florida, Virginia and in other states. I don't know if we have any relatives in England.

My grandfather was Joseph Edward Keedy from Sunderland, England. He was married to Catherine Duggan. He had three children - Frank, Arthur and Elizabeth. The move to the US in 1926.

I am also reasearching the Keedy family when I get a chance. My wife is the last in aline of Keedys who had boats on the tyne, She is not involved in the business which ended with thre death of her father Russell Keedy a few years ago. John K. was the child of Johann Heinrich Keedy and Barbara Blecker. Johann was born Dec 16,1741 in Niederschelden, Germany and died in Keedyville, MD Feb21,1821. Barbara Blecker was born in 1743 in Germany and died Oct 26,1820 in Keedysville, MD

Alfred Keedy - Keedy Cemetary

Hugh, I posted a message in Feb. looking for information on my paternal grandfather. His name was Harry C. Keedy and he was born in Keedyville MD in 1860. His father was Alfred Keedy, a contractor. In April I visited the Keedy cemetary. I noticed a headstone for an Alfred and Delilah Keedy, along with some of their children. I am wondering if this could be my greatgrandfather as the timeline seems to fit. Would you have any information on Alfred and Delilah? Some of the other headstones were hard to read, particularly the dates. I don't have a lot of information on either side of her family it was a great experience. The cemetary was beautiful. Many thanks to those who fixed up the cemetary.

Rob,thanks for the Servalstudios web site, and Keedy page. My paternal grandfather, Harry C. Keedy was born on 4/15/1860 in Keedysville, MD. He died on 2/21/1940 in Spokane, WA. From a copy of his obituary I have learned that his father was Alfred Keedy, a contractor and builder from Keedysville. It states that Alfred had three sons. We have some other sketchy information. The Web site lists an Alfred Keedy. Do you have any information in your files?

However, I don't have any information other than the name of my great great grandfather, Alfred Keedy, and that he had three sons, one of them being my great grandfather Harry Keedy (who left Keedyville for the West when he was a young man). My father was also born in 1913. He was an only child (as was his mother). Have you checked out the ServalStudios web site?

Yes, Carla, they are Abraham and Martha (Gray) Keedy. I have them in Orange County, In. and buried in LaRose, Ill.

I am also researching Keedy family in Tyneside when I can, my mother's maiden name. Russell Keedy was my great uncle; I only met him once, about 1978, when he and his wife lived on Sunderland Rd, SS. I believe he was a seafaring man, but don't recall anything about boat ownership. His wife, Millicent was an amateur artist. Could this be the same Russell Keedy?

My greatgrandmother was Anna Nunemaker. She had a sister, Sarah Nunemaker, who married Aaron Keedy in Elkhart County, IN. They had a daughter, Pearl, who married Charles Robert Phelps in Tuckerman, AR. I believe they had more children. Do you know and can we share further info?

I am Eugene and Marjorie Cricks oldest daughter Carol. I remember George and Alice Keedy very well. Last time I was in Gardendale I saw them at a restaurant. Have you even come across a Pearl Keedy who married a Charles Robert Phelps. She was born in IN, but Charles was born in IL. They had two children: Bonner Manning Phelps and Carolyn Salome Phelps both born NM. Bonner in 1921, Carolyn in 1916.

Andrea, I have some information about the man you are looking for. I found him, along with information on Joseph
E. Keedy. Daniel George Keedy wasborn 12 Feb. 1812, Washington county, Maryland and died Jul 1852. I have him
dying in Washington County, Maryland but that may not be correct.

He married Malinda A. Funk who was born about 1815 and died 1 Apr 1837 also in Washington County, Maryland.

His father was John Keedy, born 14 Aug. 1768 and died 7 Apr 1839, I believe in Washington county, Maryland. John married Martha Furry born 19 Oct 1772, died 4 Feb 1832. I have a number of their children on my records, and also his some grandfathers back a way. They do connect with Joseph E. Keedy's family by mutual grandparents. I can give you more information if you are interested. I would love to hear from the researchers looking for Joseph E. Keedy, since I have some of that information also.

Ludwig, Daniel, George & John Keedy

In tracing the parentage of my gr. gr . grandfather John Keedy I have come acrossthe three above named people as possible fathers. Right now all I have to go on is the 1790 Census Of Maryland. In that State these three gentlemen all lived in Washington County. According to that resource Ludwick, Henry and George were the only Keedys in the entire state with a male under the age of ten in their households. John Keedy, according to the 1850 Census, was born about 1881 in Maryland. I have no way of knowing when his family left Maryland. Has anyone researched any of the above named men? John did name his children by his second marriage William, David, Daniel, Joseph and Henrietta. His children by his first marriage included a William, John, Laura and perhaps more whom I have yet to trace. If anyone has come across any of these names please contact me. Thanks-Alice

Benjamin Harrison Keedy would have been my grand-uncle on my mother's side. He was the son of William H. Keedy (Civil War Veteran) and Mary Cook. According to information I received from Nancy Baker he "Benjamin H. Keedy .... died in Los Angeles 1-19-1956. His older brother, Grover C. (aka Philip) was my grandfather. He died in Boston on March 18, 1918 accidentally, 5 months prior to my mother's birth.

I am at a very confusing place in my research on my maternal family tree. John Joseph Keedy m. Jane Whitley in Lawrence County Indiana (1829) was my great-great grandfather. His census records indicate that he was born in Maryland. I thought I had traced him back to Jacob Keedy, son of Johann Henry Gutting (aka Henry Keedy). I have now found other conflicting information that indicates that I am on the wrong track. I do know that Jane was not his first wife. Nor was he her first husband. I thought Mary Middlekauff was his first wife but it seems that's a different John J. Keedy. Can anyone help? Even confirmed eliminations would be helpful.

Keedy...Geeting broken branch

In researching my maternal grandfather's lineage I have discovered that most of the internet trees I have seen for George Adam Geeting line appear to be in error.These trees indicate that the 5th generation George Adam Geeting was born in 1780-1790 in Washington County Maryland. He was actually born in 1781 in Washington County and he was the sixth generation, not the fifth. The fifth generation George Adam Geeting was a Revolutionary War Soldier with his service thoroughly documented in "Revolutionary War Patriots of Washington County Maryland," by Henry Peden. This man's son George Adam Geeting was born in 1781 and he went on to follow in his Grandfather's footsteps as minister at the Church in Eackles Mills Md. 5th generation George Adam left Washington County with some other members of his family at the age of about 63 and headed into Ohio and or Illinois. I am trying to confirm that my great-great grandfather John Joseph Keedy was in fact George Adam Geeting's son John. If anyone has any information pertaining to this I would appreciate hearing it.
