DAR - Daughters of the American Revolution for Richard Keele's service in the Revolutionary War. Richard Keele grew up in Wythe County, Virginia. He was a soldier in the American Revolution for 7 years. He enlisted in Henry County, Virginia in the spring of 1776 and served in Captain Jos. Lyons and R. Houston's Company of Rangers. He served with them until July of 1777. After July of 1777, he married and removed to the frontiers of Washington County, North Carolina on the Nolachucky River. Richard helped to guard the frontier from invasion by the Indians during the Revolution. His wife Lydia, and their very few neighbors had to live in a stockaded fort at that time. One day when Richard returned unannounced she had slipped out of the fort and was gathering wild greens. Soon afterwards, when the "Tories and British" began "penetrating into the country", he joined a Volunteer Company under Samuel Williams in Washington County. This group later joined the volunteers serving under Col. Sevier, and they fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain in South Carolina. The papers which substantiate the account of Richard S. Keele's service are contained in Survivor File 1977, Military Service Records Department, The National Archives.

I am looking for Arthur Keele 1700's in Maine. It's part of my Foster Lineage.

I have an old family picture of Quannah Parker, son of Cynthia Ann Parker, indian captive who married a chief ?name. The picutre was part of inheritance from my Grandmother, Allene Coffman Foster. The back of the picture says:
"To my great niece Ruby" Ruby Foster was my grandfather, James Thelmer Foster's sister. My great aunt... but I have nothing to prove that, although, because Keele is on my Coffman side of the family. No Rubys there except by marriage to my grandfather above mentioned. It may be that is the connection you are looking for... Pleasant Coffman ne John Coffman ne Robert Carl Coffman (my great grandfather)Foster's mother,(Maud Loveland), was supposedly part Cherokee. She looks it. I can scan a couple of pictures. James T. Foster, Sr.'s picture is on my research site, as well as, findagrave.com (Chester, Tyler Co. Texas). He has many indian attributes.

Roy, are you skipping a generation? Do you have Lydia married to her son William? I have that Lydia Richmond was married to Richard S. Keele and that William, Richard and Lydia's son, was married to Jemima Moreland. William and Jemima had Rhoda.

Leslie

Hello Roy, Did you have a Keele line in ILL? I'm looking for linage to James Thomas Keele b. 1833 in Wayshington Co. ILL, So far I can't tie him into the Richard / Arthur line from England. James (Jas, Jim) keele moved into Missouri. Married Martha C Dillyard Feb 11 1869 at Cape Girardeau MO just after the War. He was married once before and fathered 5 children. We have no idea of wife or children from this union. May have been killed during the War? Have you heard of James Thomas Keele from ILL ? grany05@aol.com Thanks Cheryl

John Wesley Keele b. July 26, 1854 in Polk Co, MO was the son of Archa Keele and Sarah Ann Beckley. He died Dec. 8, 1927 in Waverly, Lafayette Co, MO.

!1850 CENSUS, POLK CO, MO:
Joseph Cavin (52, b. TN, value of real estate $3,000),
Hanna (46, b.
Re: Keele Geneaology

My great aunt passed down a transcript of a letter written by Franklin Reynolds (s/o John Franklin Reynolds; s/o Silas Forest Reynolds; s/o Silas H Reynolds & Nancy Keele Reynolds) to his cousins (Mr. & Mrs. Forest Vinson) on 7 January 1971 that does touch on the subject of Cherokee blood. This letter (and my grandfather's "pet name" for HIS grandmother, i.e. "the squaw") have led our line of descendants to believe that Nancy Keele Reynolds was half Cherokee Indian.

I only recently inherited the files/information collected to date by my mother's family and am slowly wading through and trying to make sense of it all. Please feel free to email (tadpolestreasure@aol.com) me directly if you'd like to discuss further and/or would like details of what I have managed to digest so far. Kind regards, Mary

Re: Silas H Reynolds and Nancy Keele. They were married on Thursday, 23 August 1832 in Rutherford County (National Banner and Nashvile Advisor). They're first found in TN records in 1836 when Silas was appointed Constable in the 10th District where he and Nancy lived. He was on the tax list & listed with small family in 1840 census of Warren Cty. By 1850, he and family were listed in 10th district of Coffee Cty (recently formed from part of Warren County), on Hickory Creek.
Silas H Reynolds (age 44), farmer, born NC, worth $400
Nancy (age 39), TN
John H (age 17), laborer, TN
Benjamin (age 14), TN
Silas (age 12), TN
Andrew (age 10), TN
Narcissa (age 8), TN
Lucy (age 6), TN
Drury (age 1, male), TN

My family is descended via Silas, the son, though I do have quite a bit of info on some of the other children as well if you're interested. NB I don't have any info re: Silas' parents, but can trace Nancy back to Arthur Keele via her father, John (b.1779), and grandfather, Richard Keele (b.1757).
