Tribute: Hazel B. Keeler was born in Harvard, Ill., to August and Emma (Nothnagel) Burrow. Her parents were born in Germany and came to the United States and the Harvard area in the early 1900s.
She graduated from high school and received her registered nurse degree in Harvard.
She practiced as a nurse until her marriage to Spencer Keeler on Feb. 14, 1945, in Harvard.
After their marriage, Mrs. Keeler and her husband moved to Sioux Falls, S.D.,
where they lived and had a truck garden until 1960, when they moved to a farm in Parker, S.D. Mrs. Keeler became a farmer's wife and worked hard alongside her husband.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers,
cooking, canning, embroidery and crocheting. The Keelers retired from farming and moved to Chancellor, S.D.
Mrs. Keeler moved to Colorado in 2004 to be close to her children. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Parker, S.D. She died Wednesday at her home.
Survivors: Two sons and their wives, John and Margaret Keeler of Platteville and David and Annette Keeler of Moorehead, Minn.; a daughter, Barbara Bosch of Webster, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Her husband, her parents, three sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Services: Services will be conducted in Harvard, Ill.
Interment: Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard.
