I have been through our families papers, Our Keenan branch originated in what is known as the Gortin Glens, they were mountain people as my father puts it. There is a very small village today called Gortin but way back the whole area was known as Gortin.
My gggrandfather Peter Keenan was born in Gortin Glens in 1840 and he married Sarah Ward, I know he had two brothers Michael and Bernard"Barney". Michael and Peter left and moved to a farm in Mullaslin, Co Tyrone which they divided, Barney went to America. My father tells me that there was a pocket of Keenans in the Glens but previous attempts to go further back was difficult as all the church records are in latin.
Carole I think it is possible that we could be related, have you got any other info.
