I am doing my Lee line and I dont know if this helps or not.Rhuea Elizabith Lee married 2nd James George Keesler. They married 4 July 1857 in Carbondale, Lackawanna county, Pa. They are both buried in Sheffield, Franklin county, Iowa.James was born 2 February 1828 in New York

Sounds like my ancestors! My Great-grandfather was Arthur Keesler, one of his sons was Dennis Keesler who was my grandfather--they both ended living with my Grandmother in Grand Ledge MI and Dennis died before his father Arthur.
Arthur had a brother (I think) Marion, and I recently ran into one of his decendents (also) Marion Keesler, about 85 years old living in Springport MI.

One of Arthur's sons was Frank Keesler--I have e-mailed with one of his grandsons living in Grand Rapids MI.

I have Arthur's, his wife Mannetta's and Dennis's obits if you could use any of that info--let me know if any of this fits with the people you are working on!

I am also looking for Keeslers from the Fort Wayne, IN area. I am looking for info. on an Alvin Keesler born 1875, married to Lottie Sauder, died in Allen Co., IN around 1950. I am looking on information on Alvin Keesler, born 1875 and lived mostly in IN. I believe his father's name to be Martin but I cannot connect them. Alvin was born in IN or IA. Martin was possibly born in OH. Alvin was married to Lottie Sauder. He died in Allen Co, IN.

Hello! Sorry about not responding for a long time. I don't think these are "my" Keeslers but I haven't really checked further than Arthur and Manetta Keesler (my grreat-grandparents). I do know they both died in Grand Ledge MI and I have their obits if you'd like me to e-mail 'em.

Yes I believe they went from NY to OH to IN. John Keesler's 3 oldest children were born in OH. John's sons Harvey and Charles both lived and died in KS. Harvey is listed in the "History of Montgomery County, Kansas". It states "the heads of the family were eastern people - the Keeslers original New York settlers."
In my notes I have Vermilion, OH or Holmes, OH as possibilities where they may have lived.
I don't have the name of Henry or John's father, but haven't really done any research in Allen County.

I went to the 1850 Census Record for our Dennis Keesler which is on page 10 for Allen, Springfield Co. which you mentioned. Sure enough I see that John Geeson right above the Dennis Kesler family. I then found that Henry is on the very next page and this time they spell it the way we do KEESLER. How interesting. You said you thought they were from Ohio. Both of these Keeslers have New York written as where they were born. Are you suggesting that they might have gone to Ohio from New York and then to Indiana? Do you have the name of Henry's father. We have no clue for our previous generation from Dennis.

I am going to copy your message and forward this to a cousin who is doing our tree. I am sure he would appreciate any help. At this point in time I do not remember a John Keesler in our tree, but I will check with him to see if he has more information. It is possible our Dennis had a brother and we have not connected to him because we have insufficient information. Any information we could review would be helpful.

I am descended from and researching John and Susannah EWING KEESLER. In the 1850 census John (spelled GEESER) is living next to Dennis Kesler in Allen County, IN. There is also a Henry Keesler in Allen County in 1850 and 1860, so I assumed they were all brothers.
I think John and Susannah were in OH prior to moving to Indiana, but don't have any information on who John's parents were. I'll need to check but I think I may have a couple of possible counties in Ohio. I'd be glad to share.

I am Shirley Keesler and I have been been working with my husband's 2nd cousin to put the Keesler tree together. Our tree's name is "James A. Keesler" in the Public Member Section. You probably have looked at it. We have only been able to go back to Dennis Keesler who was the father of your Marion. I found him in an 1860 Census in Springfield, Indiana, Allen. I had a tough time finding this record. Look under DENNIS KESLER. The index spelled it with one "e" Our family is from Arthur Keesler. Take a look and see if we can help you. Both Marion and Arthur went to Brookfield in Eaton Co. Michigan. Our Arthur went to Grand Ledge, Michigan. Jim as an e-mail address as he lives in the area of Brookfield. I also found Nelson in Alaiedon, Ingham Co., Michigan. Nice to meet you.

Hi there,

looking for anyone that may have connections to this family and hopefully can help me to find his parents. I have Charles Keesler, born August 1866 in Indiana and he died 1934 in Mason Co., Michigan. He was married to Clara Jean Spitler Sept. 25, 1889 in DeKalb Co., Indiana. The are in DeKalb in the 1900 Census after that they are in Mason Co., Michigan. Children I have are Cledous D., Audrie, Clyde, Charles Lee, Unknown, Sylvia Mary Jane. All except Sylvia are born Indiana and Sylvia was born Mason Co., Michigan. I am trying to locate the parents of Charles. Any help would be appreciated.

Bev, I can go back to 1777, Peter Keesler born along the Mohawk River. Married a Mary (Polly ) Smith, born in 1776. They came to Ohio in 1816, with 7 children, Anna, Hannah, Clara, Lydia, Belinda ,Polly & Cornelious, all born in Seneca, NY. 2 more children were born in OH., Sarah & Kesiah. 1 article I have says there were 2 sons that came from NY, but I can't find another. I have 2 Franklin Keesler. The first was my great grandfather who lived in Red Creek, New York He was a blacksmith. The other was his son and the brother to my grandfather Ray Lewis Keesler. Franklin theson was born in 1875.

My relatives came from Red Creek, Ny. On census it is listed as Town of Wolcott,Wayne County,Village of Red Creek. Hope this helps to see if we are related.

My Mother was Elma Keesler raised in Grand Ledge w/8 brothers & sisters. Oldest Leda, Clyde, Floyd, Elma, Margie, Aryle, Elsie, Donald, &Norma Jean. Hi from another relative of yours. My mother, Leda, was the oldest of Frank and Nellie Keesler's children. We moved to California from Michigan in 1948, so I don't know too much about our ancestor Keesler's. I remember great grandfather Arthur Keesler and Edith. The one you want to contact is Joyce Mishler. She is my Aunt Elma's daughter and lived on Front Street just up the road from Arthur while she was growing up. I think she posted a message to you some time ago.

Hi, I noticed that your query was kind of old but thought I would try this anyway. My father's brother was Melvin Keesler but he died before I was born. From what I was told, they were 12 years apart and lived in different homes after their parents got divorced. Melvin was in the Navy and I was was told that he had died at the age of 25 and never married. I didn't think it was the same person but you mentioned Nebraska and I was told their dad was originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. Maybe it is possible that he could have been a grandchild.

Oops---haven't checked these messages for too long (now 2005!) I'd love to learn more about how my dad (Alfred Keesler) is your mother's cousin! I grew up hearing almost nothing about other Keesler relatives from either my dad or my grandmother Edith. Now those generations of relatives are all gone (that I knew). My sister Ruth (4 years older than me) has some memories of an old Dennis (?) Keesler living in Edith's Grand Ledge home in the 50s who we think was Edith's husband's father!

This weekend I'm attending the Hodges Reunion in Montcalm County MI--Edith was the oldest in her Hodges family---that family is WELL documented!

I'm now living in Jackson County, about a mile from the farm I grew up on!

I'm stuck here at my ggg-grandma Harriet Keesler b. mid 1800's in Montana, married ggg-grandpa Joseph Haines

They had a son, my gg-grandpa John Arthur Haines and a daughter by the name of Grace

These relatives were from New York,Wayne,Wolcott,Red Creek. I found on some census but have no maiden names for wives. I can find beyond John who would be 4th Generation. As my father is Karl Lewis Keesler. Any help would be appreciated.

I am researching Charles Keesler born abt 1837 in Ohio to John Keesler and Susan Ewing Keesler (from NY). The Keesler family is living in Allen County, IN in the 1850 census long with Henry Keesler and Dennis Keesler. Is this the same family you have researched?
I have no information on the family prior to this.

My gggrandfather, Charles KEESLER, was born abt. 1837 in OH. The family then moved to Allen County, IN. He had a brother Franklin. His parents were John and Susannah EWING KEESLER from NY. They are listed in the 1850 Allen County, IN census as John GEESER.
I wonder if this is the same family?

Looking for relatives and family branches. Anna Lee Keesler and Grace Keesler both girls born in Wayne County, PA They were the daughters of Levi b.@ 1841and Lydia Keesler b.@ 1851. Who were Levi Keeslers parents and what was his wife Lydia's maiden name?

Grace Keesler Lauby raised her nephew, Thomas Tigue,son of her sister, Anna Lee. Anna Lee and Robert Tigue had a total of 16 children all but 4 grew to adulthood. They raised their children first in Wayne Co., PA and then in Scranton. All but Thomas lived with their parents in Scranton. Why was Thomas not raised with his siblings?
