To my knowledge Christian and Catherine (LEEDY) KEGLEY never left Wythe County, Virginia and all fourteen of their children were born in Wythe County as well. My records indicate their daughter Rebecca married John COPENHAVER but my records indicate that they also remained in Wythe County. I have fourteen children listed for John and Rebecca including a daughter named Katherine who married Thomas Sterling CARDWELL of Texas. I have eight childrne for the CARDWELLS. Is this your Catherine?
Ralph E. Kegley

Ralph E. Kegley was alive in 1956. He had a daughter by the name of "Margie". His daughter gave him a book in 1956 about Oregon railroads. The book is now in Springfield, Missouri. There is a photo from the book with a notation that reads, "Christmas 1966". (could this be "Margie"?) The black and white photo shows a woman with brown hair(?) sitting at a table working on a large crossword puzzle. The attractive woman is in her twenties and is wearing glasses. She is in a house that looks like it is an older style house for 1966(perhaps a farmhouse). The photo is in pretty good condition. I was hoping someone would know who this photo belongs to. If you do please contact me. Thanks brian in springfield missouri

Deb,

Just recently I received additional information on my sister-in-law's family. Her grandfather was Charles Henry Kegley who married Flora Belle Pennington, daughter of Rufus and Virginia Flanigan Pennington. Charles was the son of John Henry and Nora Crow Kegley. They were all from the Atkins, Smyth Co., VA area.

Have you looked at Rootsweb? I looked there yesterday for Charles Henry Kegley and found a good deal of information which I printed off and intend to send my sister-in-law. I didn't have a chance to peruse that information so I don't really know what that information contains.

I show them having 6 children??? dianna is trying to figure out who his parents are...right now working on the thought that his parents may be george washington kegley who married rachael snavely...possibly a earlier marriage before rachael...or maybe he and the other lady may have jumped the gun and he was born out of wedlock...its a work in progress at the moment...have you found out anything more on him since you posted this message???? do you know anything more about his wife and her parents and siblyings??

I was wondering if in any of your Kagley/Kegley/Cagley info from Blount Co. there was a Callie listed. She married George Washington Felty. I'm trying to search my father's side of the family and have come to a stop when I get to her, because I can't find any info. Thanks for anything you might have!

My name is Joanne Barton and my Kagley line is spelled with an A. My ancestry subscription is going to run out April 2, 2007 so I am posting my email in case someone would like to contact me about this line. I am looking for any information or photo's of this line. My mother lost all of her pictures of her family to a jealous ex who kept all of her stuff when she left. The rest of the family does not have that many pictures. So if anyone has any of these things would so help me very much. My email is edjoanne@gmail.com or ed_n_jo_2003@yahoo.com . You can reach me at any of these.

Also, any other members of those generations. I have limited information on the family. I'm married to a great-grandson of James Marion. We live in Fredericktown, MO.

The information I have on Lertie Kegley is his father was William Winston Kegley born July 21, 1862 in Wythe, Virginia; his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Ross born 1855. Lertie had the following siblings: Lelia Gertrude Kegley born 1892; Muncey Edwin Kegley born January 21, 1855 in Grayson, Virginia and died 1960 in Amherst County, Virginia; David Jefferson Kegley Sr. born May 9, 1887 in Grayson, Virginia and died June 25, 1967; Rose F. Kegley born 1889 in Grayson, Virginia and died April 1975.
William Winston Kegley father was Elias Kegley and his mother was Elizabeth Umberger. Elias Kegley father was Hans Martin Kegley and his mother was Mary Magdalene Myers. Elias had a sibling John Henry Kegley. Hans Martin Kegley father was John George Kegley and his mother was Catherine Unknown.
I hope the above information is helpful. If you come across Lertie & Eleanor's children, please let me know. I'm researching Eleanor Jones side of the family.
Deb

Donna,

Just checked my family tree rather quickly, but I have Flora Belle Pennington (this is my sister-in-law's line) as a daughter of Rufus C. Pennington, 1860-?, and Virginia Flanagan, 1857-1942. Rufus was 39 in 1900 so the info that says he died in 1880 is wrong. Also on the family trees on Ancestry it gives Rufus' parents as Joseph Pennington Creger and Susan Mary Kinser, but I'm wondering why Rufus went by Pennington (that may have been his grandmother's maiden name if she was Jane Pennington) rather than Creger? From the 1900 census, the children of Rufus and Virginia Flanagan Pennington were: Susan, 18 in 1900; Florence E., 16; Floyd A., 13; Samuel C., 11; George W., 9; Flora Belle, 7; and Lucinda, 4.
