I am the great grandson of Harry A Keirle. He was a son of William Keirle and Catharine Williams. He was married to Myrtle M (I am unsure of the maiden name). He died before I was born. Myrtle died in the spring of 1990. They only had one child. A daughter named Althea M. Kierle. She died on February 25, 2008. She was married to Robert Gordon Clewell. They had three children. One son followed by two daughters. I am the son of one of the daughters.

I hope that helps whomever was researching William Keirle and Catharine Williams.

alfed keirle was my great granfather and his daughter was my grandmother,her name was vera and she had 4 children by reginald brewer, my mothers name is joan brewer and when she married in 1961 she became joan brownlow. We don't have contact for Phillp in Australia although I do have some very pleasant memories of him while he was living here with wife and children. I thought Beryl was still here in NZ. She would know what was happening with Phillip
I do remember him doing some rather unpleasant things with shellfish that even I as NZer could not manage. Australia is good place for him.
NZers and Aussies take the Michael out of each other it is our national sport. Keep in touch. We plan to come over for visit in July. Maybe we can catch up with you then?

Hi Roy, We heard from George so now have his address but not his phone no so would still appreciate that. We remember your father Ray and Mary who were very kind to our Mum Evelyn. She is now living in her house in Taunton again by herself and seems to be managing quite well at 92. George disappeared for a long time after he and Jan moved from Cannington, We will write to him in the New Year. Where in Taunton do you live?

The Keirle's married into the Williams family whom I descend from. My Great Grandmother was Ann Mary (nee Williams) Carr Doran who was very close to the Keirle family I listed. The William born in 1902 was her first cousin, making him my first cousin 3 times removed. I would love to trade information in what I have for her family. Kathy, My name is Rebecca Keirle DuPont my father was Alfred Miller Keirle of PA. His parents were Alfred Preston Keirle and Helen Miller Keirle I believe my father grew up in Harrisburg Pa he had no brothers and sisters. He was born in 1922 and died in 1987. I think I may also be descended from the ame William Keirle as yourself, but as the Othery Parish Records have some significant gaps towards the end of the 17th Century, I am not 100% certain. I am sure of my ancestry back through Stoke St Gregory in the 18th century to a single couple - Arthur and Joan Keirle. The only 'Arthur baptismal events' that I can find in the surrounding parishes are in Othery so I have retracked my ancestral thread there. I would appreciate any guidance you can give me in relation to people of Othery in the 16th and 17th centuries that may help me be more certain that I am on the right trail. This is where my ancestry leaves the line:

Culliford = Keirl

On 2/11/1778 in High Ham, Somerset, James Culliford 1758 married Mary Keirl 1759
They had 3 children born in Somerset: Charlotte Culliford 1779, Anne Culliford 1782 & James Culliford 1785.
Anne Culliford 1782 had a daughter, Harriet Culliford c1802, in Muchelney, Somerset.

Hello there Sara.
Just a quick note to tell you that Alfred and Eliza Keirle are my grandparents (now deseased).
You obviously have all the names of my Aunts and Uncles so I know that this is definately the same family.
My father is Ray, sadly passed away 9 years ago. Aunt Eve is still alive at 90 years, so too is Rene, Marg, Lil and uncle George.
I am from a family of 8 of us. Five brothers and two sisters.

Ann Keirl was born 13 Aug 1860 Stoke St Gregory.
Married Thomas Thickett 14 April 1879, Durham
Died 12 August 1945 Tudhoe, Co.Durham
Her parents were Henry Keirl b. 17 Apr 1840 Stoke
and Hannah Harris b. 23 April 1840 Isle Abbots, Langport, Somerset.
We have more information on both families and are especially interested in the Thicketts. Ann's daughter Edith Annie Thickett was Pam's grandmother.

William Keirl - Canada?

I am trying to trace my great uncle William Keirl (no 'e'), born in South Wales (UK) in 1892. I have a suspicion that he emigrated to Canada with his nephew - my grandfather - Wilfred Keirl. Wilfred didn't like it there and returned to Wales, but I don't know what happened to William and can find no trace of him in the UK. I am wondering whether William and Wilfred went to Canada to stay with their Keirle relatives who had emigrated there in the mid 1800's..... Help please!

I'm interested in finding members of the Keirle family of Edwardsville, Pa. My father was the youngest son of William Keirle, who emigrated to Edwardsville from Stathe, Somerset, England in 1879. That date comes from his citizenship application. He was the son of Alfred and Mary Ann Keirle. He had 2 brothers, Alfred who emigrated to Australia, and John who lived in Wales. I would also be interested in finding information about the family.

My grandfather William Keirle is from Stoke St. Gregory, Burrow Bridge, Somerset. He emigrated to the U.S. in the early 1880s. His brother Alfred emigrated to Austratia several years later. Anyone have any information on them? Thanks, Kathy

William Keirle was born August 1865 in Edwardsville, PA. He married Catharine Williams of Edwardsville who's parents were David D. Williams and Ann Williams of Wales. Together they had the following children:

I am looking for any connections with Alfred Keirle who married Elizabeth Saunders and had 10 children together:- Irene, Evelyn, Muriel, Vera, Margaret, Ray, Ivan, John, Lilian and George. As far as I can make out, they were all born and lived in Somerset, except Irene. She married Sidney Baker, was later divorced and married Harry Mason and moved to Bristol.

Stoke St Gregory, Langport, Taunton, and then Bridgwater are the areas I am looking at. My Great Grandfather, Alfred Keirle married Eliza Saunders in Stoke St Gregory on 4 Sept 1915, and they went on to have ten children. With help, I have found out that Alfred's father was Robert John Keirle, but I don't have his mother's name, or a definite dob for him or Eliza. If you can help at all, I would be very grateful, and if I can help you at all, just drop me an email.

My wife Jennifer nee Kairl is a descendant of William Keirle b abt 1539 in Othery and Agnes Saverie b abt 1543 in Othery. Her great grandfather George b 1833 was the third child of the (second) marriage of John Keirle b 1785 in Othery to Mary Mellier b abt 1807 in Othery married abt 2828 in Othery.George and his stepbrother Benjamin, b 1816 in Othery only child of the first marriage of John Keirle to Elizabeth Westlake b 1794 in Othery married 32/12/1814 in Othery- Elizabeth died 12/1822- came to Sth Australia in 1851. George settled in Sth Aust and Benjamin moved on to Victoria. Would greatly appreciate contact from any descendant of John and Mary by email on alskid@tpg.com.au

I have found this family in the various census returns, in 1871 William is noted as age 7, so the corresponding GRO birth reference is probably -
William Keirl born 1864 Taunton R/D . vol 5c p408 December Q. His elder brother Robert John Keirle did indeed move to Wales, though he later returned with his wife and developing family. I have done quite a lot of work on this branch as they are also, in a sense, my family - our common ancestor was Arthur Keirle who arrived in SSG from Othery in the 1730`s. I am trying to trace any decendants of John Keirl(e) and Ann Hake. John was bapt 3.jun.1831 Thornfalcon, Somerset & married Ann Hake 13.nov.1851 Taunton St James. I can find no trace of them after their marriage and think they may have emigrated - USA ?, Australia.

I've just come across your family tree via the World Tree at Ancestry - I was looking for Martha Stark of Hawkchurch (& found her!) - I just wanted to check with you how certain you are about the surname of the wives of her son, Samuel Brown - you have Squires - I think and hope that it should be Symes - I have a record of Samuel Brown of Chard marrying Betty Symes at Hawkchurch in 1781 & Betty died in 1786 & had a sister called Rachel- I'm pretty sure they must be the same.

I'd be grateful for any help you might give.

Just found your message. My husband is related to a Daniel Keirle from Othery. His daughter, Grace (b1795) married Charles Barnstable. Is this your Daniel? I believe that our Daniel married Amy Perrat. I have been unable to find any more info on Daniel.
