Kell Land ownership in California - Mission Peak

I am preparing a publishable history of property owners on Mill Creek Road, Misson Peak, Fremont, Alameda County, California. Robert Kell, husband of Roseanna, received a 168-acre land patent on the slopes northwest of Mission Peak on 5 Dec 1867. In 1877 Mission Peak Road was put through his property to access other properties behind Mission Peak. In 1889 the beginning point of the road was changed, and the portion of the road through their property was abandoned by the county. Later the name of the road was changed to Mill Creek Road.

The Kells also purchased some acreage behind Mission Peak accessed by the new Mill Creek Road, but that was sold by Roseanna Kell in 1901 to the Overacker family.

I am focusing on the land history rather than the family histories. Other surnames are Overacker, Gallegos, McClure, Beard, McKenna, Moore, Hollenbeck, Bolton, Trenouth, Corbett, Dooley, Koehler, Joseph, Griffith, McGilivray, Millard, Johnson and Weed.

My father's name was John A. Kell, and his father's name was William B. Kell. My father and grandfather are both deceased. Lived in the state of PA when they were alive. My father passed away almost 25 years ago. There seem to be several John Kells. There is also a connection with George Kell who is in the baseball hall of fame.

We may have already connected. I have Frank P Kell, b Feb 1854 in Missouri, married to Elizabeth Oler 1884, as son of Benjamin Kell and Mary Pierce Clay. Mary was Benjamin's second wife.

Benjamin Kell was born in 1811 in Pennsylvania or Indiana, married Rhuama Beckner in Sep 1832 in Ripley County Indiana. They moved to Missouri at some time in the 1840s.

Benjamin Kell is my 3rd great-grandfather.

He was 86.

Jackson's Funeral Home in Newport, Ark., confirmed the death but did not give a cause. The Hall of Fame said he died in his sleep at his home in Swifton, Ark. Kell was severely injured in a car crash in 2004 but was able to walk with a cane about six months later.

Kell edged Williams for the 1949 batting crown, hitting .34291 while the Boston Red Sox great finished at .34276. Kell played 15 seasons in the AL, hitting more than .300 nine times and compiling a career average of .306. Longtime Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell and Kell became close friends while working together in TV and on radio.

"He had a very laid-back style," Harwell told WWJ-AM in Detroit on Tuesday. "He was easygoing and an expert on the game. He brought the field to the booth because he played and played well. He had a conversational style that people took to."

Kell grew up in Swifton and lived in the same house from his birth to when it burned down in 2001, then was rebuilt on the same land. Born
George Clyde Kell was born on August 23, 1922, in Swifton, AR.

Jackson's Funeral Home,
I am seeking information about Leslie Kell & his vaudeville show. His name appears on a WWI Draft Registration for Frederick-Fred N Milton, of Jefferson Co IL. On the 1910 census he, his wife Nora & stepdaughter Elsie Sherick are all shown as actor/actresses in vaudeville. This 1910 census was also in Jefferson Co IL. Fred's younger brother, Meredith Carter Milton was also shown on a later census as a vaudeville performer. Any information, clues, help, will be greatly appreciated.

Hans Peter Kell

I am trying to find information on my ancestor Hans Peter Kell - married to Anna Maria Fackert and having the son Johann Georg Kell. Most people put him as being born ~1655. His son migrated to the USA in 1744. I am stuck as I cannot find Hans' parents. I have seen speculation of him being the oldest son to Georg Wilhelm Kell from Melsbach, Germany. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :-)
-Mike Kale (or as I recently discovered - Kell)

I just found your 8 year old post on Rootsweb.com about my great-grandfather, William Henry Kell, born in Chester-le-Street, Durham Co., England & died Jully 11, 1912 when he was shot by the sheriff in Dillie's Bottom, Ohio!
Hi Wanda-
I have info on the Kell family that the cemetery was named after. They did not, I don't think, donate the land, but had one of the earliest graves with writing. There were other graves only marked with stones.
Robert and Rebecca Farmer Kell were the Kells of Kell Cemetery. They were in the Sequatchie Valley very early. Robert was from North Carolina I believe. I have more info if you need it.
Amy~

Hello:
I'm sure you will find this interesting:
I have ancestors who carried the Kell surname; one of whom was my great grandmother. They lived and worked on the Kell plantation in Miliam County, Texas in the 1850s and on the Kell plantation in Coryell County, Texas in the 1860s. They were slaves.

In Miliam County, Texas in 1850 James Kell born about 1790 was head of household which included: Elizabeth-wife and the following children: Archibald, Matthew, Abraham, Francis M. b. 1833 in Indiana, and scott.

In 1860 Francis and his family were living in Bosque County, Texas; and they included Sara-wife and children: Martha, Archd, Franklin. James Kell and Matthew Kell were still living in Coryell County, Texas.

By 1870, Matthew and his wife Caroline had 8 children and were still living in Coryell County, Texas.

My ancestors eventually left Coryell County; and my great grandmother moved to Bosque County, Texas with her husband where they lived for many years.

I purchased several pictures at Williamsville antique mall. Williamsville is near Springfield. The pictures include: Ralph Kell about 3 to 4 years old and was taken in the early 1900's (this is a guess), 2 pictures of the same woman in the same fashion as Ralph's. One picture says Miss Mary Kell 1205 S. 15th St. Mt. Vernon, IL., the other picture says Mary Carpenter, a couple Silas Kell and Marie Steen (Stun) photographer was in Peoria, George and Martha Kell Dickinson taken in Chicago. I would be willing to send them to family members. Melissa
