Seeking information on children of Belding Kellogg (B. abt 1810-D.1863) In 1850 census for Schuyler Co. Illinois,Belding is listed with children: Milton, born abt. 1834 in Ohio; Robert, born abt. 1836 in Ohio; Florinda, born abt.1837 in Ohio; Mary, born abt. 1843 in Missouri; Amos, born abt. 1846 in Missouri; Phoebe Jane (my gr-gr grandmother) born 1849 Illinois. Melissa comes later, born 1855. Belding married Susan PURDY on 31 March 1842 in Ohio, (have affidavit for this in Belding's civil war papers). This puts Milton, Robert and Florinda before marriage to Susan PURDY. Anyone have info on this? Was Belding married before or are these children of family member he is raising? Any descendants of Melissa have info on her? I do know her mother, Susan (PURDY) Kellogg died 25 March 1864, and guardianship of the 2 minor children, Phoebe Jane and Melissa was awarded to a Richard B. Ballew in Princeton, Mercer Co. Missouri. Any info on these kids would be much appreciated. Thank You.
