Hello Dorothea,
Sorry so slow to answer your reply. No, I didn't get any further on my Peters/Maher search while in Tipperary. I really don't expect to. It's just nice to be there. We did walk thru the cemetery you told me of. I knew there was one nearby, just hadn't driven far enough last time. We talked to a caretaker there. Drove thru what we think was Strogue Twp.
I had your spring emails along with the description of Strogue so that helped, where you told me it was 1/8 bog etc.

The church looked nice. I thought of you when I saw the window with Richard Quinlan's name on it from Strogue. They did a nice job on the church. Strange to see colored tile on the walls of a church. There seems to never be any in that town of Castleiny. Have you ever talked to anyone there?

I did get a tip from a tour guide of the Famine museum in Thurles. He told me to write to Msgr. Maurice Dooley in Thurles. He knows Castleiny/Loughmore area very well. I wrote to him and he answered. Said there were over 600 Maher baptisms in a span between 1798-1866. There were only 69 Peters listed for the same time and these all came from 19 Peters families. Amazing. Now, that should be workable. Easier than Maher.

Thanks for your message. Good luck on your families. I have a new direct email.
