Surnames: Kanealy, Clarkin, Griffin, Hughes, Jenks
Hi, I am searching my grandmother's lines from Ireland. She was Marie Clarkin, born in Cresco, Iowa in 1896; her grandfather, Thomas Clarkin came with his four brothers from Armagh and moved to Iowa. He was married to a Maria Griffin and his mother was Mary Kanealy. I believe they all migrated about 1852; landed in New York and moved to Iowa. There are Clarkins and Griffins still in Iowa in Howard and Chickasaw counties; don't know about the Kanealy branch.
I know that the Kanealy name has been spelled many ways, such as Kenealy, Kannealy, Kanneally, Kinealy, etc.
Same is true for the Clarkin branch: Clarken, Claerkin, etc.
Any information or leads would be appreciated. I am posting on several similar name boards in hope of finding a connection.
Thanks
Julie
