I have a John and William Kenny who came from Ireland to N.Y. Both had sons who became priests then one a Bishop. My gr. grandfather Andrew was their brother and they had a sister Mary who went to Canada. I do not know of any other siblings but have never looked. John went to N.J. then to Penn. like my gr. grandfather. Andrew was born in 1825 and came to the U.S. in 1845. Will keep an eye out for your Harold....Pam

But I cant find anything on Harold L Kenny's Father. He Married Emma C LArch and had 4 sons, Harold being the 3rd. If anyone thinks they might be able to help please feel free too. My great-great-grandmother (Antionette Wells) was married to James Joseph Kenny, the oldest child of James Patrick Kenny and Catherine Rock. I have a lot of information regarding the Kenny's in Springfield which you may already have. I have not found any information about siblings however. Would be happy to compare notes though!

Delighted to read your post as it is always exciting to contact someone else researching the same family history.
I have a copy of the death certificate of Bridget Kenny 25 Jun 1955 which states that her parents were John Patrick Manning and Bridget Meaney.
There was an obituary for John Patrick Manning in the newspaper "The Register" dated 21 Jan 1916.
I have a copy of some writing of Michael Kenny (who came out from Ireland)which states that his sister Margaret married Patrick Manning from Fortwilliam and that they came out to the colony.The writing is undated but from references was probably written between the date of Michael Kenny's marriage to "widow Herreen" ie Brigid Purtle 22 Oct 1848. and the birth of their first child 22 July 1849.
There is an arrival of Patrick Manning and wife Margaret and family on "The British Empire" to South Australia on 14 August 1850.

My great grandmother was Eliza Jane Manning married Daniel Purtle (she did have a sister Elizabeth). Her parents were John Patrick and Bridget (Meaney). I am looking for the family of James Wilfred Kenny. James was born in abt 1908 in Leeds and moved to Plymoth Devon.
His father was William Kenny and His mother Sarah Jane Evans.
There were sisters Hannah, Christina?, Alice, Albert, Arthur and a younger brother Harry.
Glenco Place (1814) was one place they lived also King Street(1887) and Bow Street.
(all in the Leeds area)
I have found them on the 1901 and 1911 census records but 1891 shows the family as Mc Kenna? Any info would be much appreciated thanks

Don't know if this helps but I am researching a Kenny family who came to Australia before 1854. In particular I am interested in Frances Kenny b 1831 Eyres Court, County Galway, Ireland. Her parents are John and Susan Kenny. On her marriage certificate in Victoria it states she is staying with relatives. There are a few Kenny's listed in Melbourne at this time.

I have a Joseph Kenny marrying Mary O'Connor on 1906, they had eight children one of which was my grandmother, on of her brothers names was Jeremiah. My gt gt gt grandfather on my paternal side is named Jeremiah Kenny, he married Catherine Sheehan c 1832. The family is centred around Grenagh Co. Cork.
Does this ring any bells. If so I am in contact with a few Kenny cousins and we have quite a bit of information that we are willing to share.

This might be a coincidence, however I have a great-uncle named Bernard Kenny. His father, Thomas Joseph Kenny was born in Derby, Derbyshire, England. TJ Kenny immigrated to the states via Canada. He settled in Oklahoma were he had eleven children, one of which was Bernard. I'd like to hear more about your KENNY family.

TJ's dad was John Kenny. He was born in 1841 in Pennsylvania. He married Mary Anne Foley in Johnstown PA in 1870. They had three boys. John born 1871 in New York, Thomas Joseph born 1875, Darby, England and Michael was born there as well. I just obtained John's death certificate he died 21 Nov 1897 in Manchester England. His son John also died in Mancester on 20 Feb 1948.
I believe John Kenny's parents immigrated to states to escape the potato famine. I have reason to believe that the Kenny's come from the County Longford. I also believe that Mary Anne Foley was married before, because the informant on John Sr's death certificate was Mary Ellen Edwards, his step-daughter. Maybe John and Bernard were second or third cousins.

I don't know if there is a connection or not. i once was thinking Thomas Joseph could have been a brother to my gr. grandpa Bernard Joseph but I can't remember why. I have a copy of my Great grandpa's marriage certificate from 1883 and it states his father as "Henry Kenny, Ireland, Farmer deceased". i can't find info on him though.My grandfather John Oliver Kenny moved to British Columbia in about 1916. He had 5 sisters and 1 brother. His brother, Bernard Joseph Kenny jr. b. 1891 was a Catholic Priest. His sister Mary Ann Kenny b.1895 was a catholic nun. At age 19 she became Sister Mary Maura a Benedictine nun in 1914 at St. Mary's Abbey, Oulton and celebrated her golden jubilee in 1964.
Do you have any info on Thomas Joseph Kenny's father or mother?

Hi, I am doing research for my friend who is the son of Marcia Hurl Kenny, b. 1919 and the daughter of Mattew Montgomery Kenny(brother to Robert Douglas Kenny) and Elizabeth Barkley. Matthew was the son of Douglas Kenny and Hannah Montgomery. As you know they were the sons of Robert Douglas Kenny and all I have is Martha Dale as wife although I have 8 children born to them. Samuel, Eliza, Ellen, Mary, Thomas, Robert, Martha, and Douglas. They were born from 1865 to 1885.
From James' book I have R.D. Kenny's father as Thomas Kenny(1754-1818) married to Elizabeth Douglas. They also had a daughter ,Sophia. Thomas was the first ancestor of Ballygarvey.
I suppose you and my friend Peter are cousins. He was given up for adoption when he was born in 1938 in Boston. His mother went there just to have him and went back to Ballymena. Do you know if James Gault is living? Peter met him in the 80's when he went over there but his mother had supposedly gone to New Zealand. Sorry I can't answer your question but if you know any of Marcia's siblings could you let me know as we'd like to know what happened to her and her 2 children. Thanks

I'm looking for a needle in a haystack!. I'm hoping to find info on a Mary (May) Kenny. Mary was the recipiant of a small payout in the will of John King, the 2 time Medal of Honor winner in the US Navy. John (B/1862 Ballinrobe Ireland....D/1938 Hot Springs Ark.) John married Delia (McKenna) Holland a widower late in life and she had 2 daughters. In the will one is mentioned (Maggie King Joyce) and he states that he didn't know her married name. The probate lists a payout to May that matches what the will says so I'm assuming that May is the unknown daughter.
Can anyone help?

There are many of my Kenny family from Pennsylvania. Scranton where John was, Andrew from Pittsburg, and Mary from Renfrew Canada, then William from New Jersey. They were from Riverstown, Sligo Ire. John's son was a Catholic Bishop...Where are your family from? Pam

My William J. Kenny is also from Ireland. I can find 2 of his children, Andrew J., a priest and Kate. His wife is Cathrine Gilimore. William had several siblings all born in Ireland. Mary Bridget, Andrew,and John. Let me know if it sounds familiar. His father is John and mother is Cathrine Gilimour of Riverstown, County Sligo.

I am looking for the parents of Fanny (Frances) Remy Kenny. In her death notice in the Mercury Newspaper Tasmania it was reported her father was John Kenny from Lismore House, Earl Court, County Galway, Ireland.
Fanny was born about 1830 and died in 1875
She married a John Bailey and their first child Susan was born in 1860 here in Tasmania.

Don't quite see a connection. My grandfather, William F. Kenny was born in 1923 and died feb. 24, 2007. His father was William A. Kenny. I'm not sure when he was born but he died around the late 50s early 60s. He was married to a lady named Mary. I'm not sure of his siblings and if my grandfather was still alive i would ask him. My grandfather had one brother, Robert, who was a priest. I don't think William A. Kenny was born in Ireland. Any connection yet?

I am also looking for information on the Kenny family. My great-grandfathers name was James. His mother was pregnant for him on the trip to the U.s. He later had my aunt Pat and my grandfather Robert. Originally they where called the KilKenny's also and settled in NJ where myself and mother where born.

I am trying to learn anything I can about Delia Kenny, my wife's great-great grandmother. She was born in November, either 1868 or 1869, in County Galway. I believe from documents I've seen she was likely born in the vicinity of Athenry.

She had a sister named Julia, who married a Sullivan. And there is a brother named Peter whose grandchildren still live in the area.

I thought her father's name was Peter, based off her 1933 death certifiate, but I believe that may be an error.

I have also learned that Delia is a name associated with Bridget.

Married John William Romine 26 Dec 1897. 1900 Census lived in Walnut City, Crawford, Kansas. Daughter Zeila May Romine born in Kansas 18 Sep 1900. Son Jess Marion Romine born I think in Richill, Osage, Missouri in 18 Oct 1904. Does not appear on the 1905 Kansas Census. Died 9 Jan 1907 in Shaw, Kansas. Buried Shaw Cemetery with heart shaped tombstone marking grave.

I have a margaret Kenney in my family tree. She was my great great grandmother B1863 on 1881 cencus she is living at 6 birmingham st dudley as a lodger with 17 other people. i cannot find a marriage for her and she had a daughter Winifred B1886 dont know if this is your Margaret. There was a Kenney family living at 22 Gatehouse fold at the same time - this could have been her family - or not who knows!!!!

Don't know if you're still looking for info but I am the daughter of Douglas Kenny (b. 1920, Balleygarvey)(d.1979, Toronto Canada), brother of James G. (the author), my uncle. They were 2 of 3 sons of Robert Kenny and Rosemary Gault. The other brother was Jordan (d.).
Robert Kenny's parents were Douglas (1837-1926) and Hannah Montgomery (1845-1926) m. 1864. Douglas died 28 days after his wife, Hannah.
Going back, Douglas was the son of Robert Douglas Kenny (1833-1921) and Sarah Jane Beattie (1835-1908)m. 1908 (My great-great-grandparents). That Robert Douglas Kenny (b. 1833) was the only son of Robert Douglas Kenny Sr. (1797-1876) and (according to my Uncle James' research) an unknown female. Robert Douglas Kenny married (for the second time) in 1828 to Martha Dale.
I hope I've got that right (mostly from notes I made from James G. Kenny's books)
I'd like to know who the first wife of Robert Douglas Kenny (1797-1876) was? I found an entry in the 'Ireland Civil Registration Indexes 1845-1958' for a woman that died in Ballymena area in 1833 at age 16 named Roseanna Kenny. I am only supposing that she could have died giving birth to Robert (who later married Sarah Jane). If anyone knows her surname or any other info I'd be glad of it.

My great great grandfather Samuel Dale was the brother of Martha Dale who married Robert Douglas Kenny. I have also seen James G Kenny's book and the way I understood it, Martha Dale was his first wife and mother of all the children. Martha died in the 1850's and then RD married again. His second wife was the one mentioned in his Will; a copy of which in James G Kenny's book.

A few years back, I made contact with descendants of Matthew Kenny who had immigrated to Canada in the 1950's and now live in Alberta. Email contact was through their daughter. Apparently, the mother had researched the whole of the Kenny family in her early days and still has a lot of the research. They would be the people to contact. I do remember her telling me that Martha Dale was the first wife and the Craig lady the second wife. I have kept copies of the emails but I will have to look them up.
