Have you come across a Kunigunda Keppler born about 1717 who was married to Johann Georg Bauer? They were living in Scharnhausen, Wurrtemberg, Germany at the time of their deaths. Her name may have been Maria Kunigunda. On the Familysearch website the German Burial record has her dying July 17, 1770 and Johann March 8, 1770 in Scharnhausen. I have there daughter Eva Barbara marrying Balthas Seel in 1759.

My grandfather Antone Keppler was born in Conn. in 1884. His father, Anton Keppler was born in Stuttgaurd, Germany in 1847. My grandfathers brother Frank Keppler (who was also born when they came to Conn in 1886) moved to Millwakee from Butte, Mt. with his family. Wonder if he had an uncle, like your George Adam Keppler or other family there. It is unusual to move like that if you don`t have family.

I was searching for information on a Harm HULSEBUS and ran across your post. I think Harm may have had a son named Albert P. HULSEBUS (1863 - 1923). Albert was b. in Germany and d. in Yankton, SD. Albert was married to Louise Catherine Janssen. Albert would have been my g-g-grandfather.

Albert & Louise had 10 children (that I know of), including a Martha HULSEBUS (1896 - 1976). Martha married Fay T. REYNOLDS.

If this family sounds familiar, I would appreciate any information you may have to offer. Feel free to e-mail me at nancy.munger@comcast.net. Thanks.

Hi Jim,
Thank you for the possible clue. My information on the Kepplers is very limited – the village you mention might be helpful. At this point I am thankful for any type of information that might help me to track this family. My great grandfather Christian Frederick Keppler (born May 18, 1852; died November 3, 1928 in Bucks County, PA) came to the U.S. roughly in 1854 when he was about 2 years old. As far as I can determine he came with his father Christian Frederick Keppler (I think that is his name; from census material would have been born around 1820) and a sister Wilhemina (born February 1844; died abt. 1907 in Philadelphia, PA). The census materials just indicate that they came from Württemberg, Germany. Wilhemina then married a Jacob Eyth (born abt 1838; died bef. 1920 in Philadelphia, PA). The census also indicates that Jacob came from Württemberg.

KEPPLER, REINHARDT JOHN; Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient WW II

Source: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

Note: This is not my ancestry. I have NO additional information. I am just passing along information that may be useful.

KEPPLER, REINHARDT JOHN

Rank and organization: Boatswain's Mate First Class, U.S. Navy. Born: 22 January 1918, Ralston, Wash. Accredited to: Washington. Other Navy award: Navy Cross. Citation: For extraordinary heroism and distinguished courage above and beyond the call of duty while serving aboard the U.S.S. San Francisco during action against enemy Japanese forces in the Solomon Islands, 1213 November 1942. When a hostile torpedo plane, during a daylight air raid, crashed on the after machine-gun platform, Keppler promptly assisted in removal of the dead and, by his capable supervision of the wounded, undoubtedly helped save the lives of several shipmates who otherwise might have perished. That night, when the ship's hangar was set afire during the great battle off Savo Island, he bravely led a hose into the starboard side of the stricken area and there, without assistance and despite frequent hits from terrific enemy bombardment, eventually brought the fire under control. Later, although mortally wounded, he labored valiantly in the midst of bursting shells, persistently directing fire-fighting operations and administering to wounded personnel until he finally collapsed from loss of blood. His great personal valor, maintained with utter disregard of personal safety, was in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.

**Awarded Posthumously.

Burial: San Bruno, CA in Golden Gate National Cemetery

1918 in Ralston, WA - 1945

Additional Information and cemetery monument photo:
http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/states/pages_go/keppl...

I'm searchingfor Frances Josephine Galloway and her daughter whose name was probably Elizabeth. Frances was born March 24th, 1934 in Butte Montana to Frank Galloway born about 1902 or 1903, and Emily (Keppler) Galloway born about 1904 or 1905. Frances had at least two other siblings when she was born. Elizabeth was born somewhere between 1957 and 1962, which would make her age somewhere between 41 to 46 years old. My Uncle Glenn L. Christner was Elizabeth's biological father. Glenn severed contact with our family over 40 years ago after his divorce from Frances and we recently learned of his passing. Frances continued contact with our family up until about 35 years ago. When Glenn and Frances were married in 1956, Frances lived in Vancouver Washington, they later moved to Wisconsin, after the divorce Frances went back home. Our family would very much like to get to know Frances and Elizabeth. If you know any information on Frances's or Elizabeth's were abouts, contact would greatly be appreciated. Discretion can be used if need be.

Thank you,
Tim Atchison

Hi- I come from a family with the spelling Kappler. In the first quarter of the 20th century -- probably around 1910, one of my great uncles moved from Pittsburgh to Elizabeth/Westfield NJ. I think his name was John F. Keppler or Jacob Keppler and he spelled his name from that way "Keppler," but was born a Kappler. My grandfather visited his uncle as a boy. I am curious if anybody has info on this fellow and any family he may have ended up having.

Does your Keppler family come from Leipzig, Germany or do you know the city? I am third generation great-granddaughter of Johanna Hedwig Keppler (actually the German spelling is Käppler). She married William Adolf Edward/Eric Bueschel April 19, 1920 in Leipzig, Germany. Her father was Edmund Robert Richard Käppler. She had one son that died in Germany. She sailed to America in June of 1921 seven days after giving birth to her second son "Max"....not sure of his full name. Her third son was still-born. Her forth son, Rolf William Maximillian Bueschel, was my Grandfather. He past away November of 1996. Her fifth son, William Henry Eric Bueschel was born in either 1924 or 1925.

I am now living in Germany (my boyfriend is German so I'm here to learn the language and the culture). I have started to do so research as well. We have been to Leipzig twice and have found 3 addresses at which the Käppler family had lived.

I hope this information helps.

Go to the SSDI on Rootsweb and put in Albert's info.
When his name and info pop up, hit the SS5 Letter. You can copy the letter and mail it to Social Security (along with the fee). They should reply with Albert's parent's names and place he was living at time of filing for SS number.
Although my family lived in Jersey City, some worked in NY and applied for the number in NY.
Jersey City is in Hudson County...but don't ask Hudson County for help, they are miserable people in the Vital Statistics office. You may find a kind volunteer on the Hudson msg board who may have time to help you research. There are many kind volunteers on the internet.

We all loved him very dearly and looked forward each year to his long visit. We hated to see him go back to Warrensburg, Illinois and live with Aunt Mollie.²

I look forward to hearing more from you.
This is a response to an OLD message at ancestry, but...Keppler is a difficult name. I have Kepplers, of Manhattan, who moved to Staten Island. (Johann) Martin Keppler, dob 1830, germany, came to nyc and eventually settled on SI. He had 3 daughters. and reportedly a son.... I have info on all the descendants of the girls, Amelia, Cecilia, and Ethel.
However, re-reading a letter for the gazillionth time tonite, i discovered he had a sister here in NYC... she was the widow of a man named Schall..; According to the 1880 census her name could be Minna.( he had been in business with her husband, and her adult son is listed as a confectioner also, so I think I have found the proper person) So all of a sudden it could be he had other siblings as well, although I had never heard of any. He was born in Pfulligen, Germany, to Beatrice Kober and Johann Martin Keppler and came here in 1845, but did not come with his parents; he moved here and lived with an uncle. But there is no reason that his siblings couldnt have done the same...any of this strike anyone???

I am seeking information about Henry F. Keppler who married Marie [Mary] Leahy in LaSalle County, Illinois on April 24, 1900.

In the 12th US Census taken several months later, Marie Keppler is enumerated residing with her parents--Patrick / Ellen Leahy--Henry Keppler is not listed.

Marie died in St. Paul, Ramsay County, Minnesota on November 18, 1918; death records list her as Marie Leahy, not Marie Keppler.

Can you help me find out what happened to Henry F. Keppler...?
