KERBY FAMILY OF COLLIN CO., TX

Am seeking info on Lucy Kerby (sometimes seen as Curby) who came to TX from Pike Co., AR between 1860 & 1870 with her husband (Andrew) Jackson Brock and their children. In 1870 they are in Dallas. Living with them is my gggrandmother, Mary Matilda Ward - age 16. Mary was b. AR so probably moved to TX with the Brocks. I haven't been able to find her ancestors. Mary married James Wesley Wetsel in 1871 in Collin Co. The Wetsels were a large family that moved to TX in the 1840s settling in the McKinney area & later in Allen and Plano. They were friends of the Kerbys. I'd like to know if and/or how Mary is related to Jackson & Lucy. My research into Jackson's family doesn't show any relationship to Mary, so I would like to know more about Lucy's family.

Don't know if this is the same family. If your Kerbys did keep going west, where were they headed?
I have a James Kirby(b abt 1790) who was a potter by trade born in North Carolina. His son, M.J. was born (abt 1820) in South Carolina and his oldest son was born(abt 1849) in Georgia, though the rest were born in Texas where they finally settled.
I am interested in any Kirby/Kerby family who made the sweep from the Carolinas though Georgia to Texas to see if I can find a match somewhere.

I am new to geneology and I never knew many of my family. I was told that Emory's wife, Almira (Tuttle) was one-half Indian. Do you know if this is true?

I am seeking information about the Kerby family who settled at Florence in Lambton County, Ontario in the early 1800's. I am specifically interested in learning more about Edwin Kerby (born circa 1829), a merchant, and his wife, Mary Stagg (shown as Stage in some documents) who resided at Dawn Centre (now Rutherford), just a few miles from Florence.

Their daughter, Emma Agnes Kerby (born circa 1863), became a well known local artist and subsequently married John Miller (born circa 18620) at Chatham, Ontario in October, 1885, following which they may have resided in Harwich Township, Kent County, Ontario. My gggrandmother, Ann Stagg, was doucmented as being a witness to the wedding event.

It appears that Emma may have been raised, in part, by James and Ann (Stagg) Paul who resided on the edge of Florence (1871 Dawn Township census)and, in part, by William and Ellen Somerset (1881 Chatham Township census). William was Ann's son from her first marriage. I believe that Emma's mother may have been a sister to Ann (Stagg) Paul, my gggrandmother; however, I would like to learn what happened to her parents in order to confirm this.

I would appreciate any Kerby/Stagg family information. I can be contacted at megobloodline@yahoo.com.

Thanks.
Merv Howes

Katrina,
Just saw your post. I am researching the family of James Kirby, b.1765 in Wilkes Co., NC. Your post didn't mention dates or locations but I am curious as to where your Kirby's were located. As you probably know, many of them moved west. My family pretty much stayed in the Wilkes/Caldwell Co. area of NC.

Just wondered...
Kathy

William Kerby married Nancy Thomas 1813

Looking for information on this Kerby family. Lived in the portion of Burke County that later became Yancey County North Carolina. William (birthdate unk) married Nancy Thomas daughter of Joseph W. Aaron Thomas August 26, 1813. They had one known daughter Cynthia (born after 1813) who married her cousin James Thomas Mar 25, 2838. He was born 1809 in Burke County N.C. They migrated to Union County Georgia. I don't show any children for this couple. Researchers have stated Cynthia died (?) and James married Mary Louise Ralston in Union Co., October 10, 1855 and that they migrated West... however in checking other documented information from other researchers the contention is that they returned to Union Co. and are buried in the Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery in Blairsville, Union Co., Georgia. Would like to know more about this Kerby family.
