I also found that Francis Kerce and his wife Lidia had a son named Henry Hansford Kerce. Henry Hansford Kerce did marry Susan Clementine Conner. But according to Henry Hansford Kerce's headstone, his year of birth was 1855. He died in 1935. The headstone only shows the years. One of their children, Perry Preston Kerce is my great-grandfather. He is the father of my grandmother, Vera Lee Kerce.

Albert B. Kerce was not one of Ricard Kerces sons that moved to Florida with Ricard. I suspect he chose to stay in Worth Co. and Tthe rest of Richards children went with him. Although there mighth have been another also that stayed behind. I cant really remember and would have to look up my research. If you are still interested. Let me know

Kerce Farm Floyd County, GA

I am buying a house that is on the original Kerce Farm in Floyd County, GA. The now gone Kerce family home was directly across the road. This house is 100+ years old and made of native stone, pink marble, and mortar. Due to it's age I know it was here when the Kerce family lived across the road and there is a good possibility that they owned the house and had something to do with it's being built. I would really like to find out any information that I can on it and would really hope that someone may have an old photo of it. If you have any information please email me at: future4seen@hotmail.com

Gwin,

I'm trying to help my son locate some of his ancestors in Floyd County. His grandfather, James Spencer Kerce, was born in 1910 in Rome, GA and died in 1994 in Charleston, SC. His g-grandfather's name was James Calvin Kerce. He was born in 1881 and died in 1954 in Floyd County. James Calvin was married to Florence Mae Orr who passed away in 1970. My son believes that these Kerce's are related to the three that came from Barnwell, SC. Richard Haniford Kerce and Calvin(George") Kerce. I can't remember the name of the third. He can't seem to make a connection. James Calvin Kerce had other children: William Kerce, deceased, Raymond Kerce, deceased, James C. Kerce, Jr., deceased, Alma Kerce Shannon and Miriam Kerce Peek. Miriam and Alma are still liing and reside in Rome, GA. If you have any info that may be of help, please respond to my e-mail and I will let him know.

Thank you,

Joanne Lancaster
JRL35@homexpressway.net
Dianne,
I'm affraid the Kerce's were the worlds worst about using the sme given names. My GGGrandfather Richard D. Kerce Migrated from Barnwell Co, SC to Worth Co, GA and then to Florida. He had a son named Henry that you may have mistakenly thought was your Henry. See below:

335	Richard D. Kerce	40	M	W	Farmer	6,600	800	South Carolina
Ann Kerce	41	F	W South Carolina
Benjamin Kerce	21	M	W	Laborer South Carolina
Mary Kerce	18	F	W South Carolina
William Kerce	16	M	W South Carolina
Elizabeth kerce	15	F	W South Carolina
Catherine Kerce	13	F	W South Carolina
Henry Kerce	12	M	W South Carolina
Sarah Kerce	10	F	W South Carolina
Martha Kerce	8	F	W South Carolina
Peter Kerce	6	M	W South Carolina
Penny Kerce	4	F	W Florida
William and Cristianna Bielling Kerce must have kept thier noses clean while in GA for they don't list any of thier children as being born there. Maybe they just weren't there very long.
I got an e-mail from a lady in Houston this morning that is one of your Kerse's. I've already sent her this Query Board, so you may hear from her. If not let me know and I'll give you her e-mail address.
Good Luck,
Tom Moore
Double Oak, TX
Tom --

Thanks for your reply. Let me tell you a little more about our Kerce's and you may have run across additional info. I don't have a Henry in my lineage. I have a Hansford, my ggggrandfather. Three sons of Hansofrd, Richard Hamilton, "Ham" ( my gggrandfather), Hansford "Hans", and Calvin (some say George) settled in Floyd County, GA around 1852. We believe they cam from SC. Ham and Hans remained in Floyd County. Calvin' fiancee died, he left Floyd County, and the family never heard from him again.

From that point we have our family history, It is before 1852 that we cannot connect to our earlier relatives.

Again, thanks for your reply and for forwarding my message to the Texas Kerce.

Diane Boone

To the large, and seemingly unable to connect together, Kerce family. I am a Kerce descendent whose family history says we migrated from SC, presumably the Barnwell area, in 1852 to Floyd County, GA. As I have viewed web info., it is interestin that my family names, Hansford, Richard, Thomas, William, Charles, Mary, Emily, Samuel, James "Jim", and John occur in the families of those in Worth County, GA, and in Columbia, Bradford, and other FL counties. Can anyone provide a link between our families?

Thanks for any help.

Diane Boone

Henry Hansford and Susan were my
ggrandparents also.I don't have a lot
of info on them but have some reason
to believe that his father was Elias
Hansford Kerce.Born in Branwell Co.SC
moved to Worth Co. Ga. and is buried
in the family cemetary there.I am
guessing that Henry Hansford joined
cousins in Bradford--now Union Co.Fl.
I sure would love to hear from you
and trade any other info we may have.

Got your message, and I am not sure if there is a relationship, because I have never seen the initial "B" after Albert's name. My husbands gr. gr. grandfather was Barnett, also born in SC, and lived in Worth county, GA. You are the first Kearce I've corresponded with, that has the same spelling as we do. The story this family tells is that they were tennant farmers for the govt. and they were putting "Kearce" on all the documents, so they just assumed that spelling. The census shows them as Kerce, and sometimes Kerse. email me @ Likepar@aol.com Love to hear from you.
