Adam Kerchner (c1704-1768), last of Hereford Township, Berks Co PA, is the direct male line immigrant ancestor of me. You need to be aware of German Naming Customs in the 18th Century, i.e., the 1700s. His first given name at baptism was likely Johan or Johann but his secular call name was Adam. He would be found in most secular records simply as Adam Kerchner, or a misspelling of the last name since spelling of German surnames was not reliably done by English scribes back then. See this webpage for more on naming customs and spelling variations of names:

Virtually all of what is out there comes originally from my research one way or the other, including what is at the CLDS, some of which is in error from very early research and is now difficult if impossible to correct in their Ancestral File system. I am not LDS but I have used their local family history centers many times to search microfilmed church records, etc. I have been researching this line for 33+ years. I have even started a Y chromosome genetic genealogy project 8 years ago to try to find connections to other lines in the colonies and to modern day lines in Europe. His German home village is still unknown to me at this time. Here is a link to my online information about Johan Adam aka Adam Kerchner.
