I have found the name Furajtar and Georgius Kerekes (j?) in the Presov RC church records and wondered if there is a connection to Maria Furajtar, born about 1792, married to Georgius Olsavsky in 1826, and your family. Tried to send an e-mail unsucessfully today 10/16/2009.

It is possible there may be a connection. My grandmother, Maria Kerekes, also came about the same time from Hungary. She is deceased: so is my Dad and most of her children. Please email me and we will get in contact.

You may be related. My great-grandfather was Karoly Kerekes, on my grandmother's side. Please send more information: I am compiling a family history, and would like to include contact information, for those who allow it, plus pictures, family stories or histories and other pertinent information. I was told that my Grandmother, Maria Kerekes, who would have been his daughter, may have left behind a child. I am trying to locate this child and pertinent information about its gender, birth/death dates, marriage, and children, or other contact information, if available. Any information would help. Kerekes coat of arms???

Can anyone help me find the Kerekes coat of arms? I've found there are different websites that want to sell me our coat of arms but I'd like to verify its the right one before paying someone for it. I've also noticed that the web sites differ in their coat of arms which also makes me question if I'm looking at a legitimate coat of arms. Can anyone give me some direction here?? Marty.

Maybe you should come here in Romania, in Zselyk to find he answer...
The village is unique in the current Bistrita-Nasaud county, whereas the majority of residents belongs to Evangelical (Lutheran) church.
In the middle of 19 century, the population of Zselyk was almost 800, but from 1990 population decline to 137 persons. At that time the 55 men and the 82 women average age was 65 years.
In January 2007, from 151 house 81 was empty (or already are in italics). The young generation is between 50-60 years old persons from Bistrita, a group of people who move out here after retirement (in the grandparents houses).

In the village since 1981 does not work or school, or kindergarten, young people can not remain here.

Since 2002, usually around the date of August 20 as scheduled, the Foundation ProZselyk organizate the Village Days. In 2009 this was organizated at august 15..

A lot of people come at around this date in the village from all over the world.. Maybe you should come here in Romania, in Zselyk to find he answer untill the elders are still alive...

I know of a Karoly and Ava Kerekes that live in Loxahatchee Florida. They were born in Poland and lived in New Jersey in the Clifton area until the mid 1980s. They then moved to Florida. They are probably in their 80s though and their son is about 57 and is an only child.

Wow I never knew there was so many Kerekes. Its interesting to have read your blog. When I was in High School I did a little family tree and found out that my great grandfather Stephen Kerekes (spelling) came in on a boat to Ellis Island. I am very interested in my family history.

Where was your father born? The church records in LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) are indexed by village and then religion.
Hungary controlled present Slovak Republic. Austria ruled Czech Republic.

Hello, My father name is Robert Kerek , he came from Chech, when he was young, he had 6 brothers and siters, his mother died young and my grandfather tookcare of everyone , they moved when my dad was a teen.

They shorten are name to kerek instead of kerekes

If anyone has any information on Maria Kerekes Borsos, Stephen Kerekes, Raki Kerekes married name might be Magyarosi or their descendants all from Zselyk Hungary/ Jecia Romania. These are my great Aunts and Uncle. My grandmother Elizabeth Kerekes Krecsmar moved to the United States in 1909, Maria Kerekes Borsos was also in the US at that time but she returned to Hungary. I would appreciate any information that anyone would like to share.

My great-grandfather was Karoly Kerekes, born in Szendro, Hungary, and he married Maria Medve. My grandmother was Maria Kerekes, who married Janos Szkiba, and emigrated to the US and then to Canada. My grandmother's maiden name was Maria Kerekes, born in Szendro, Hungary. Her father was Karoly Kerekes, and her mother, Maria Medve. It is possible that she had a brother named Karoly, as well, who immigrated to the USA. She may also have had a sister, Anna, who immigrated,as that person's destination address listed on immigration records was the same one that my grandmother listed, when she arrived.

Looking for some info on my grandfather Janos Kerekes. He was born in Apatfalva, Hungary in 1899. He was a Csendor and came to this country in 1945 with his wife Maria Rigo Kerekes and son Janos Kerekes. They relocated to New Brunswick, NJ and he passed away in 1977.

He came from a large family but lost contact with them. I'm looking to see if any of them came to the US or to find them in Hungary.

I knew Gabriel T. ("Gabby") Kerekes in the late 1960s in New York. He was then a well-known and respected trainer of securities brokers at several different Wall Street brokerage houses, such as Bache & Co.

He helped get me a job with the American Banker and bond Buyer newpapers, and we used to get together for lunch every couple of weeks or so.

He was a close friend of my father's, Lawrence Lesser, and for a time during the Second World War, they worked together in the Treasury Department on economic warfare against the Axis (the really evil one!).

Gabby told me that after working with my father in Washington, he was a secret agent working behind German lines to disrupt the German and Italian economies in a number of different ways, and he told me a whole bunch of remarkable stories.

I believe Gabby was married more than once, and I remember that a number of times when we were together in his office he would call an ex-wife (I do not know if it was always the same ex-wife) so she and I could talk. I was always embarrassed, because I had no memory of ever having met that wife, or any other, while she obviously knew me.

Of course it is possible that there were two Gabriel T. Kerekeses, but I kind of doubt it. If you want to know more, please let me know.

i'm live in Brazil, my grandfather have come to here in 1924 with here sisters, father and mother, at the same time his uncles go to USA. His father name was Valentin Kerekes and his mother was Koza Kerekes.

My mother-in-law is Barbara Jean Kerekes. She married David Sanford Heller in New Jersey. My husband was born in New Brunswick. Her fathers name was Ernest Kerekes and mother was Clothilda "Hilda" Guerand. There may be a connection just not sure. The parents divorced when Barbara was 5 yrs. old. He married again, but not sure of other siblings. Apparently the Kerekes's were gypsies.
