I am researching my in-laws family tree and looking for the parents of my mother-in-law, Barbara Jean Kerekes B: 07/03/1933. She only remembers her fathers last name, Kerekes. Her mother would have been Clothilda Amelia Guerand. Also searching for Henry Guerand and wife Clothilda Unkown. Daughter Guerand was born 03/04/1915. any information is greatly appreciated. P.S., New Jersey is the state where most info is found.

Kerekes like Smith is very well known in Hungary and therefore can be difficult to trace. Please help me if you recognize any of these names to find out more about my family. Anton Kerekes, born in Budapest in 1876 married Clara Orris. They were the parents of John Kerekes, born 11-23-1908 in Plainfield N.J. John married Kathlene Doniere,(Ianaiere), born in 1912 to Joseph Doniere and Ursala Yannacone, also in Plainfield N.J. John and Kathlene moved to Monroe,Michigan ( which is the state line at Toledo, Ohio), where they raised their children John, Mary, Anthony, James, Joseph, Kathy, and Barbara. Family members whose names I would sure like to know more about include Doniere, Yannacone, Orris, Carovillano, Kerekes, D'Alassandro, Izzi or Izzo. The Italians in this line came from Campobasso, Torrella Del Sannino , Italy. Thanks

Retired from U.S. Steel Lorain Works; served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned a Bronze Star while in battle in Germany.

Survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret (nee Csehi); stepsons Joseph Zsigray of Elyria, Eugene Zsigray of Wakeman, Ohio and Robert Zsigray of Barrington, NH; and a brother in Panyok, Hungary.

Preceded in death by parents; a stepson, Steve Zsigray; and sisters Rose and Margaret.

If anyone has any information on Maria Kerekes Borsos, Stephen Kerekes, Raki Kerekes married name might be Magyarosi or their descendants all from Zselyk Hungary/ Jecia Romania. These are my great Aunts and Uncle. My grandmother Elizabeth Kerekes Krecsmar moved to the United States in 1909, Maria Kerekes Borsos was also in the US at that time but she returned to Hungary. I would appreciate any information that anyone would like to share.

Looking for some info on my grandfather Janos Kerekes. He was born in Apatfalva, Hungary in 1899. He was a Csendor and came to this country in 1945 with his wife Maria Rigo Kerekes and son Janos Kerekes. They relocated to New Brunswick, NJ and he passed away in 1977.

He came from a large family but lost contact with them. I'm looking to see if any of them came to the US or to find them in Hungary.

I am looking for info on my maternal grandmother, Jolan Kerekes (Hoge).

Her parents were Joe and Mary Kerekes from Hungary. Children of Joe and Mary were/are:
Jolan, Joe, Jule, Mary, Margaret, Irene, Helen, Lois Jean, and Bill.

I believe that Wheeling, WV is where the family lived, but am not certain.

Joseph and Margaret KEREKES were found on the 1930 census of Chicago, Cook Co., IL, with a daughter Clara, age 3 1/2 yrs. He was a physician/surgeon. Joseph was b. 1889 in Budapest Hungary, came to the USA in 1922. He married Margaret SINGER in 1925 (she was b. 1904 in Gyor Hungary and came to the USA in 1923 with her parents David and Helen SINGER). Joseph and Margaret were divorced in 1938. Both remarried. Dr. KEREKES is believed to have moved to the Thousand Oaks area in Ventura Co. in CA, and to have died there in about 1957. His granddaughter remembers calling his wife Nana. I don't know if there were more children or not. Margaret married Dr. George GOMORI and they moved to CA in the mid 1950's. Any information on any of these people or their descendants will be appreciated. I am compiling a Family History for Clara's grandchildren. I would like to correspond with any relatives. I am trying to find any info about this person. He married January 4, 1936 to Marie M. Joyce McDowell. I am researching the McDowell line and came across this second marriage for her. She was allowed by her 1st husband's will to have access to his personal belongs as well as silver and paintings. The McDowell grandchildren just want to learn more about their grandfather. His parents were Andrew Kalman and Mary Kerekes. (my grandparents) My grandmother Mary, had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. All Kerekes' George, Michael, Johnny, Joseph, Anna, Betty, Elizabeth and Helen. Looking for information leading to ancestry in Hungary. My grandfather was raised by his uncle whom my father has known as Kerekes as spoken by his parents. My grandfather Stephen Dion we believe changed his name from Kerekes to Dion upon his arrival to Canada after hopping a freighter. Stephen then moved to Carteret, NJ and met and married my grandmother Mary Fekete on June 10, 1927 or 1928. They both then worked for the Fairbanks family in Coldsprings Harbor, LI, NY as chaueffer and cook. My grandfather was married and lived in Budapest, Hungary and when his wife died he left behind 5 children..the only names we know of these children are Elizabeth, Ann and Bella (Billy) who became disenchanted with Stephen when he left Hungary and possibly changed his name.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

To all of you people that are searching for
Kerekes Family I have talked to a lot of different Kerkes
Families in the USA that have roots back in Hungary Czech. and
so forth that say that they know that our name used to be spelled
"Kerekes" in the old Country but when we came to USA change
name at Ellis Island. I know that my Family did and my Grandmother
was also Julia Kerkes and my grandfather had
other brothers that came to the USA before and after WW1.
My wife and myself have done extensive seach of church records fron
Czech. and found that the name was spelled different depending on
the person recording the Info.
