I have a Nancy Kerlin in my tree. She Married Jacob Myres (Last name spelling later changed to Myers)My Jacob was born in 1779 in PA. and moved to Kentucky where he married Nancy Kerlin in Henry Co. Kentucky on January 12, 1807. I know they had a son James and possibly a son that they named Peter. The moved to Indiana. I have wondered if her dad wasn't James Kerlin, but I can't prove it. I bet Peter was related to her as well.

My e-mail Nancyw1192@aol.com

Trivoli is a small village between the villages of Hanna City and Farmington in Illinois. It is located on highway 116 approximately 5 miles west of Hanna City and 5 mile east of Farmington. I used to reside in Trivoli myself less than a city block from the cemetary that Sarah Jane Kerlin was buried along with her children. Her husband was Isaac A. Varns. He had abandoned the family and went to Kansas, but she remained with the children in central Illinois. Any possible leads on her side of the family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Her name was Sara Jane Kerlin, she married my great great great grandfather Isaac Varn(e)s. She is buried in New Bruswick Cem. in Trivoli, Illinois along with her children. My great great great grandfather had skipped town on her and she remained with the children with the rest of our family. I would love to learn more about her side of the family. If you know of this name, I would appreciate additional background on her. Thank you in advance.

I am looking for information on Kirlins from Claudy, Derry, Ireland. One of the birth certificates indicates the specific area was "Carnan Cumber." It also suggests they used "Kerlin" there.

Our great-great grandparents are Phillip Kirlin (born 1841 to Mary Gormley and Philip Kirlin) and Anne Kirlin (born 1838 to Ann Kelley and Robert Kirlin). They are both buried in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Missouri Valley, Harrison Co. IA.

They had nine children born in Claudy:
Patrick (b. 1863),
Michael (b. 1864, m. Susan McCune),
Catherine (b. 1866, m. Wm Welch),
Anne (b. 1868, m. Pierce Welsh),
James (b. 1868, m. Jane or Jennie O'Neill),
Philip (b. 1872, m. Mary Sarvey),
Robert (b. 1874, m. Minerva Unthank),
John (b. 1876 or 1878), and
Dennis (b. 1884, m.
Hi all and anyone. I would like to get a count of those of us currently still doing research on our Kerlin/Kirlin ancestors from Chester and Berks Counties, PA. This would originate with the Peter and Mathias Kerlin line originating in Germantown, PA and Chester Twnship, PA OR the John Kerlin, Sr., Berks Cty, PA lineage, (origination undocumented at present).

I am currently researching both in order to publish something within the next several years. The Kerlin thread was quite active in the late 1990s thru early 2000s but seems to have died out.

If anyone would like to keep up the research, but contact me on this thread or offline at either gbk@vnf.com or vanbookie@aol.com Thanks.

George Kirlin

He and Lydia had several children and settled in Elkhart County, Indiana where Daniel died 15 Sept 1900.

In his pension papers, Danial claimed that he ane Sarah were divorced in 1866 but we have not been able to find the record nor to identify Daniel's parents.

Hope this helps!

Hi
I am sorry that I can not answer your question about Peter Kerlin. But I thought that I should write to you as you and I have the same name, and Kerlin is not a very common name. I was born in Australia and now live in Norway. I have a brother Leslie and a sister Kathryn. Leslie and I were adopted but Kate is the natural child of Jan and John Kerlin. It would be nice to hear a little about you. Since we are both of the same name. Also my brother married and his wife is also called Lisa Kerlin. Does your middle initial stand for Marie?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Lisa

My great great grandfather is Captain William Andrew Shuck. Here is what I know, hopefully it will help you.
Captain Shucks mother was married twice, first to a Shuck and after that to a Kerlin. After the war his mothers second husband past away. They were living in Central KY. Captain Shuck went there and brought back to Fulton County, KY his step brothers and sisters, who were Kerlins. In the 1870 Census it lists the Kerlin children living in Fulton County with Captain Shuck along with a Lida Kenneday.
Captain Shuck and Tabitha Bertha Marshall Alexander are my great great grandparents. I am from Fulton County KY and currently live in Dyer, TN. My father and brother just joined the Sons of Confederate Veterans and I am in the process of joining the Daughters of the Confederacy through Captain Shuck. My family has lots more info.
Also, I know there is a connection with the McGehees. Do you know of an Ocella McGaugh or Elizabeth Roberts? They were both McGehees. They are personal friends of our family. Hope this helps. Let me know if you learn anything more.
Hi Teresa

I would be more than happy to give you any information I have relating to Kerlin's in Ireland. I should tell you immediately that there are more Kerlin's in Germany than there are in Ireland. Like you I have always believed that we were very definitely Irish and Celtic origin but whilst I still believe this is true I now acknowledge that there is a distinct possibility that we may be misstaken.

My Name is PETER KERLIN, I WAS BORN IN THE SPERRIN MOUNTAINS IN COUNTY DERRY IN NORTHERN IRELAND. MY EMAIL IS peterdevine7@hotmail.com I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU DIRECTLY.
TAKE CARE
Peter Kerlin

Hi Peter,
I have been researching Kerlin to Curlin for a few years and have run into a bit of trouble. I have always been told that we are Irish, however haven't been able to find any information on the Kerlin family in Ireland.

I would love to share the information that I have with you and I would be incredibly happy to find the Irish information.

Thank you,
Teresa

Kerlins in Kentucky

I just made copies of pictures of Olie and Joe Kerlin, brothers, as well as a second generation--Will Kerlin and Olie Kerlin. My family says that Olie and Joe were the half brothers of my gg-grandfather, Captain William Andrew Shuck. I've not heard of these fellows before!

Capt. Shuck lived in Fulton Co., Kentucky (m. Lida Kenneday and my gg-grandmother, Tabitha "Bertha" Marshall Alexander), and in his childhood was in Shelby Co., Kentucky. His father was John Young Shuck (d. 1845) and his mother was Martha F. Lyle (d. 1868). Can anyone help me connect the Kerlins with Martha Lyle Shuck?

Other stones there are Crawfords and Bernathy or Abernathy -- Anyone looking for those I can help to identify where they are. IS in Nebraska.

Dear Linsey,
I have just come across you message "Looking for Pa. Kerlins. I do not know if we are looking for the same family.
I have been looking for information on Charles Kerlin who married Rebecca Moyer in Shamokin, PA.
This is my husband's family and the information that was given to me is as follows:
Charles Kerlin married Rebecca Moyer (date not known). Rebecca died quite young (about 1863)leaving some very young children. She died when John Kerlin (my husband great grandfather) was four and a half years old. Her sister Susan and husband Caleb Persing took Kep (Caleb born 1855) before Rebecca died. Then shortly after her passing took John (born 1859) and cared for them until they grew to young men and left home of their own accord. All children were borning Shamokin, PA.
The information that I have indicates that Charles and Rebecca had 9 children.
1.Francis, 2.William (died very young), 3.Alfred (died very young), 4.Caleb (born 1855, died 1940), 5.John Wesley (born May 10, 1859 died 1934) 6.Syvilla, 7.Sarah, 8.Mary, 9.Luzene.
I'm not sure if any of this information fits with yours, your request for information about Charles Kerlin made me think that possibly he had remarried and we never got any of that information. Please let me know if any of this fits. Happy humting. Marcie

Hello -
Although I am not of either the Kerlin or Flannery bloodline, I am the owner of a Stone Farmhouse (and an adjacent Spring House)on Red Corner Road in Douglassville, PA. I have been attempting to search the history of the home, but haven't been very successful. I know we had visitors to the home recently (we were not present at that time, however I know that the visitor had a last name of Kerlin and/or Kirlin), could that have possibly been you? If you have ANY info on this property I would greatly appreciate it! The previous owners stated that they traced ownership back to William Kerlin. Please let me know, thanks!
