Surnames: Kern, Wetterholt
From the research done on the life of Michael Kern, Sr. of Morgantown, West Virginia, it does not appear that John Yost Kern and Michael Kern, Sr. were brothers. Michael Kern emigrated to America from Holland on or before 1758, as a young man. Michael Kern, Sr.'s family/parentage has not been discovered yet. However, he did have a strong relationship to Captains Jacob and Nicholas Wetterholt, who visited Kern's/Trucker's Mill in Slatington, Lehigh County, Lynn Township, PA. in the 1760s. Michael married Susannah Wetterholt, widow of Jacob Wetterholt.
