My great grandfather was Frank Kern of Richmond Va and one of his sons was Grover Cleveland Kern (born 1884). Frank Kern was married to a Martha Melton. I don't know names of Grover Cleveland's siblings---only that they lived in Richmond.

I believe I have found some record of him in the 1850 census,Rowan Co. and in war time articles.I was told by my mother that someone on her side of the family wrote a book on our Kern history. I think Leonard was my ggg grandfather if my info is correct. He married Antonia and had sons Fred, Charles, Joe, George, Seibert, and a son named Eucebius (Isarius in census). Two brothers of my ggg grandfather, David Kern, moved to Luzerne County. They were George Kern and Henry Kern. George did not have any children But Henry had 5 sons & 2 daughters.
David Kern also had a brother Leonard who lived in Northampton Co., PA.
Have done quite a lot of research on the Kern family.

My Kern family came to America in 1754. The line that went to Iowa went around 1830's or earlier. They went to the Ottumwa and Keokuk area if I remember correctly. I have not read that history for some time so my dates may be off as far as Iowa is concerned.

Does anyone have an Emil KERN b. 1862 in Germany, in their database? He married a Nona Marie IMMEN, b. 1870 in Germany also. Various spellings on her last name.

Does anyone have information on this man? I am told that he was my great-grandfather's uncle. My great-grandfather was Jacob Kern who ran a coal company in Continental, Ohio, and died around 1932. His father was Christian Kern who was a german immigrant.
Any information to validate or disprove a link to John W. Kern would be greatly appreciated.

I also am looking for info on a Kern family. William Kern married Elizabeth Mickeal. They had 8 children while living in Indiana and then moved to Bremer Co., Iowa where the last 6 children were born. His middle name was Wesley; he had a son named John Wesley Kern; another named Jake. I wonder if there is a connection. On the census records, Reuben states that his parents were from Germany. Also, his children called him Pappy (but spelled it Pappa) and called their mother Mammy (Mamma). Have always wondered if it was a local custom from somewhere. Alice

His father was Charles Wesley Kern who married mary Alice Mays, from Botetourt County, Salt Peter Cave. His father was Nicholas Harrison Kern who married Sarah Myers, also from salt Peter Cave and Clifton Forge. I don't know if I can since I only discovered my connection to this line last week. Do you have any dates for your Jacob and Christian? Who did your Jacob marry? Here is some of what I have. Jacob Kern son of Isaac Margaret Houseman b. 2-4-1831 thats all i have on him. Christian Kern son of Isacc Margaret Houseman. b. 7-14-1836. That's all I have on him. I think John Worth Kern was the son of Jacob Harrison Kern b. 12-12-1813. I don't know if he was born in Marion County Indinia or not. He married Sarah Ryan His siblings were, Henry Kern, my 3rd great grand father, Elizabeth, Isaac, John,and Nicholas. I don't have anything on anyone in Ohio. Let me know if this helps.

I have Kerns in Potosi, WI.- 1870.
Andrew Kern, b. 1838, in Baden, Germany mar. twice, 1st to Elizabeth Stuckler, 2nd to Lena Grosser. Andrew and Lena were my gg grparents. Their children were: Louisa (my g grmother) Minnie, Benjamin, Andrew Jr., and Fred.
In Andrew Sr.'s obit, it says he was the last living of 9 siblings and he was the eldest. On the 1870 Potosi, Grant Co., WI, census, is listed George Adam Kern, 58, wife, Barbery, 51, Henry, 25, William 23, George 20, Christiana 18, James 14 and Frank 6 and also, Andrew Kern, 27, Elizabeth 19, and Elizabeth, 1. Andrew and Elizabeth also had Ludwig Kern, who was living in Kansas in 1921 when his father died. I believe my Andrew is another sibling of the George Adam Kern family. I have a John Kern who mar. Sybilla Kilby. Their son, Elvy Vernon Kern, died in 1953. I have a funeral card for Elvy Vernon Kern that was among the papers belonging to my gr grmother, Louisa Kern Edmonds. Elvy was a brother to Sadie Kern who married Henry Belscamper. I have quite a bit of info on these families, but haven't proven the relationship of my Andrew to George Adam Kern. If the photo you have is of the same John Kern whom married Sybilla Kilby, I have a cousin who may be able to identify him.

I am possibly part of you family but in my listing of Nadrew Kern and Lena Grosser; i have Mr. Kern birth year listed as 1836 with him being married ti Lena Grosser as July 29, 1873 and passing away January 25, 1921.

In my family we also had a vice president canidate. My great grandfather was Jacob Snead Kern from Covington, Virginia. He was a farmer and died in the 1960's.

I too have a vice presidential candidate in my family tree. John Worth Kern son of Dr. Jacob H. Kern and Nancy (Liggett) kern. Jacob is the son of Isaac William Kern. John W. Kern was born in Alta Indiana and was married twice. This info is from Who's Who in America 1910. You might want to check that out.
