Looking for the parents/ancestors of John Karns/Karnes/Kerns, early settler of Westmoreland County. b. abt 1780 in Pennsylvania. d. bet 1850 and 1860 in Whitley County, Indiana.

John married Margaret Saxman(n)/Soxman(n) daughter of Christian Saxman, one of the first settlers of the county. They lived in Derry, PA until the early 1840's, when they moved to Ohio for a few years. In the late 1840's they moved to Whitley County, Indiana, where they lived the rest of their lives. They are listed as one of the "first families" in that county. Several of their children moved to Indiana as well. Several stayed in Pennsylvania. The family attended the First Lutheran Church in Greensburg, PA, and most of the children were baptized there.

I have a personal account from my great-grandmother indicating that John's mother was named Mary Gephart, but that could be flawed, and I have no info on his father.
