Hi Judy
Scrolling through the threads I found your 2005 Kerr msg. Noting your Glasgow, Lanarkshire locationecided to contact you to see if we have a connection as my Kerr connection is to the same vicinity. Records I have refer collectively to parish of Barony, Carlton,Lanarkshire, Glasgow ..not sure if this connects to yours or not? Sydney Australia's a long way from the georgraphy of Scotland!!
My connection is to ANDREW Kerr (occ. gardener) and his wife Jane Grier (Greer)(Glasgow research has thrown up 2 X Andrew Kerr / Jane Greer combinations ..one a gardener the other a labourer, mine's the gardener). We have no death indicators for either, although a Jane Kerr died 22/10/1856 @ 3 kerr St Glasgow ..but unable to connect with certainty).
Andrew Kerr & Jane Grier's three children, ANDREW Kerr, JANE Kerr AND THOMAS Kerr emigrated to Australia in 1841, Andrew & Jane in June and Thomas in November.
We have no real data on the original Andrew & Jane nor any earlier family. Research my cousin did years back indicated tthe possibility Andrew originally came from Ireland although it's conjecture.
Any connections here with your research?? Hints welcome.
Kind regards,
Neil
