Dave,
I can't see a connection between our Kerrs. Robert and his brother John came from Ireland to the US in the mid 1860s although I'm not sure of the exact date. John married Agnes Hamilton, also from Ireland, in Philadelphia in 1870. I do have an immigration date for their sisters who followed them: 1868. Descendants believe they came from the Belfast area and were children of teachers who died in the plague.
John stayed in Philadelphia and raised his family while Robert apparently married and had children in Philadelphia and then moved to New York City.
I'll let you know if I turn up anything on Samuel and Alexander.
