92 year old man needs help locating descendants of Rosa Lee KERR SCEGRAVES of El Paso, NM. She was born abt 1893-1895, died 5 Dec 1944 in El Paso, TX. She lived at 2311 Radford Ave. in El Paso,TX at the time of her death. Rosa Lee had lived in EL Paso, TX for 24 years. She was buried in Restlawn Cemetery in El Paso, TX.
Survived by a daughter Miss Margie Scegraves of El Paso, TX, and two brothers Clay Witten KERR of Oklahoma City and (Oliver) Ryan KERR of Tulsa, OK. Parents are Oliver Hale KERR and Ida Witten. Her dad was born 7 Jul 1854 Grundy, Mo. Died 20 Jul 1936 in Fredrick, Tillman, OK. Other brothers include John Strother KERR, Sidney Williams KERR.
I need confirmation on the husband of Rosa Lee that I believe might be James Robert Scegraves/Seegraves/Seagraves. I believe they married in OK or TX in about 1916-1917 and had their daughter known as Margaret on the 1920 census in NM. James Robert or Robert J. or J.R. SCEGRAVES possibly died in Sierra Co, NM in April 1941.
Joseph Weber, age 92 is searching for his mother Vera
Seagraves/Weber/Stone/. She was born April 16 1900 in Louisiana to Thomas S. Seagraves and Ada Rowand. She had two brothers Walter Dempsey Seagraves b. 1894 near Jonesboro, Louisiana and had only one son Jack Dempsey Seegraves who died April 2008. James Robert Seegraves b. 27 NOV 1895 in Clay, Louisiana. and married Rosalie/ Rosa Lee (maiden name unknown if it is not KERR) They had only one daughter Margaret that we know of as found on the 1920 Silver City, NM census.
Vera separated from her first husband Kenneth P. WEBER in 1920 in Kansas or New Mexico. Joseph (aka Virgil) age 4 was sent to a boys orphanage in Albuquerque, NM and his younger sister Mabel Inez (aka Marjorie Mabel) was given to a foster family in Potter Co, TX by the name of Horace and Claudia (DOBBS) GAITHER. Joseph Weber was reunited with his long lost 90 year old sister just one month ago. Now they really want to know what happened to their mother and whether they have any half siblings still alive.
Vera, by all accounts was going to come back for the kids. She never did. She married a 2nd time to Benjamin Hatchet "Joe" STONE in Deming, NM in Oct 1921 but she left that marriage by February 1922 after 4 months. Hatchet's divorce plea looks for her in San Diego, CA in 1922 as Vera STONE or Billy STONE. She never showed up for court so a "no contest" divorce was given to Hatchet in Central, Grant Co, NM. This is the last we are able to trace her. We are hoping to find descendants of Vera's brother James Robert and Rosalie/ Rosa Lee Seegraves/ Scegraves who cam perhaps lead us to where Vera went after 1922.
