Hi I have a pic of the Andy Kerrigan Orchestra. My Dad played in the orchestra as the guitarist as well as his brother was the pianist. I remember Andy Kerrigan as a child and our families used to get together. He used to sing "I had a hat when I came in, and I'll have a hat when I go out" Same one?

sound familar - you bet! Not the Andy Kerrigan Orchestra - but my parents lived in that neighborhood in the early 50's. Unfortunately, my father is deceased but i am contacting my mother to see if she rmembers this. I don't have any Andy's that I know of, but I do have a cousin named Andy whose mother is a Kerrigan (maiden name). I feel certain that there must be a connection,. Write back and let me know what you think.

Hello there Stephen,

I am trying to trace my Kerrigans I found my 2nd great Gran parents marriage in Cliffony Sligo belive this is my GG Grandmothers Parish. Their names were Patrick Kerrigan born circa 1825 and Bridget McGowan Circa 1832 i acnnot find where the lived but I believe Patrick may have come from Letrium or even Bundoran. There son Charles my great grandfather and his younger brother came to Scotland cirac 1880 and settled here all the older members of my imediate family were dead before I started my search into my family. So there was no one to ask where Charles came from only shows on his marriage cert his parents name that is how I found there marriage. Does any of this show up in your own research I know it is a long shot but i feel I have got to try.

Bob Carrigan (Kerrigan)

The Griffith's index on failteromhat.com shows Kerrigans in only 6 Roscommon parishes, most near the Shannon, including a Patrick and James in Kilglass. Unfortunately, the RC parish records for Kilglass have not been filmed by the LDS and go back only to 1865 at the Roscommon Heritage Center and the National Library. (James is not in the 1864 civil birth index.)

Diane

My Kerrigan family came to the United States in the 1860's (i think) and they lived in upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Coincidentally, my father (Edward Kerrigan) was also a Teamster "truck driver"!

If I ever hear of anything pertaining to you, I will be sure to let you know.

Thanks again,
Eileen

Hi, Eileen,

The information I have on my John Kerrigan came from my grandmother's marriage certificate (dated 1909). It states They were married in Hoboken, NJ. John Kerrigan was a teamster "truck driver" His middle name was Joseph. He was born in Hoboken, NJ about 1860. His parents name's were Patrick Kerrigan and Bridget Colrien. He was living at the foot of first street (I guess in Hoboken,NJ) when he got married. It was his first marriage.

On his first son's (Thomas) baptism certificate date 1910 it has Anna Flynn and William Joyce as sponsors. On his second son's (John Joseph) baptism certificate dated 1913 it has Catherine Jennings as his sponsor. Both boys were born in Hoboken, NJ

I am not certain of his date of death, but I do know it was before 1915.

Lorraine

I am looking for some history on Thomas Kerrigan Family that came over on the Sea Ship from Liverpool on December 8, 1846. The family is decendants of Ireland. Thomas was Married to Bridget and they had 7 children born from 1822-1836 all in Ireland. Ann, Thomas, Margaret, Bridget, Martin, Michael, and Elizabeth. Have had no luck with census except for Martin, he had 6 children born from 1856-1866. They are Mary Jane, Timothy, Margaret, Agnes, Isabelle and James. Mary Jane married John Collins and I think Isabelle married Timothy Shea. I have done Mary Jane's history all the way to today but can find nothing on her siblings? Any help would be appreciated. Martin settled in Palmer, Hampden, Massachusetts.
Hi Michael, I just happened to look in the message board or the Kerrigan name and your message was first on the list. Although I am not researching Kerrigans that immigrated to Australia, I am researching my Kerrigan family from Ballyshannon, Co Donegal, who likely emigrated about 1844-46 to Canada first, then they lived in Vermont 1852-56, finally moving to south east corner of Minnesota in Winona Co. Actually my great great grandfather was born in Bundoran, but an article written about him in 1916 says the family came from Ballyshannon... the 2 towns are only a few miles apart.... family tradition says his father was known as Johnny Jack. The 1796 Spinning Wheel Lottery and the Griffth's Valuation if 1833 indicates that there were at least 2 dozen Kerrigans in the 2 parishes. Anne from California (grew up in Wisconsin)

Hi Anne,
Thanks for responding to my message. I don't know that I can help you with your research. I have struck a dead end on researching Michael Kerrigan (b:1862) of Foyagh, Ballintra, Donegal, who married Mary Ann Ward (b:1856) of Cashel, Donegal. They were married at Ballyshannon. As you indicate, there were quite a few Kerrigans in the area. I don't have any information further back than these dates. If you come across anything interesting, please pass it on.
regards, Peter (Queensland, Australia)

Diane,

Thank you for contacting me. My Thomas Kerrigan was born in Hoboken/Jersey City, NJ in 1910. He died in 1933. His parents were John Kerrigan and Ellen (Nellie) Flynn. They also had another son, John Kerrigan Jr., who was born in 1913. He died in 1920. They lived in Hoboken, NJ. I don't know too much about the Kerrigan family. Nellie Flynn was born in 1886, Jersey City, NJ. John Kerrigan was much older than she. I believe he was born in Hoboken, NJ. I also think he died about 1913. I have some documentation that states his father's name was Patrick and his mother's name was Mary or Bridget. Any additional information you or I have could link these two families.
It has been some time now since I started my family tree and I can now confirm, from information received from the Leitrim Genealogy Centre that Hugh Kerrigan was born in 1843 (the Father of my Grandfather Hugh below)in Leitrim and not Bundoran as previously thought. He was a Farmer.
From the Christening record his parents were Andy and Grace Kerrigan and that's about as much as I know of the latter pair.Don't know whether they were from the Leitrim area but Hugh 1843 was Christened in Kinlough RC Church so I assume that they were resident in the area but cannot find any trace of them through normal Irish searches.
My Father Hugh Campbell Kerrigan died in January 2003.
