Connecting back to the post about the origins of the name Kersey, last week we took advantage of the bank holiday and drove up to Kersey in Suffolk. It's a lovely town - very picturesque English village. There are about 45 families living there now - none of them are Kersey's but there is a bench near the old water pump that commemorates a couple named Kersey that had died in the last 15 years or so.
The village church is called St. Mary's and one of the newer Kersey-ites has written a book called 'Kersey in Living Memory' about the developments of the village in this century. I didn't see any Kersey's on the memorial carvings but they were just for WWI and II.
Another tidbit is that the surname Kersey is listed as belonging to the Scottish Livingstone clan. So some Kersey's may be able to trace their roots back to Scottish Lowlands.
If I can get my scanner working, I'll try to get some of the prints I got of Kersey up on the website so everyone who can't come to England can see what the old village looks like.
cheers
