Hello.

My name is Ruth Kidney Johnson and I live in Newport, KY. My grandfather's name was George Kidney. My dad was James A. Kidney, Sr. and I had an uncle George, Lawrence (Larry), Luke, and Bill that I remember. They must be your second cousins. My father James (Jim Kidney) died when I was 19 and I am now 52. I do remember the name Lula Kidney but not more than that.

I have very little information on the Kidney family. However, there is a Ken Mueller that responded to me on here and he had quite a bit of information on Kidneys. If I find any information out I will post. Thank you.

The following is from old family stories with absolutely no proof. I have never located him anywhere except Ohio.

My gggrandfather, Nelson Kidney (b. c 1806 in Georgia)parents were originally from Spain and settled in Georgia. He had followed immigration to New York, Pennsylvania and finally to the Ohio northwest, where carpenters were needed. About 1833 he married Elizabeth(Betsy) Anne Clark who was born March 5, 1816, in PA of a combination of French, Holland-Dutch and Spanish parentage. They probably married in eastern PA, as some of their children were born there. Aurilla, Nelson Jr., and Alfaretta (m.1871 Henry H. Woods) were born in Stark Co., OH.

I have seen a Nelson Kidney b. 1819, connected to this family, however I'm not convinced it is the same Nelson Kidney.
Your thoughts, please.

cobwebrose@wildblue.net

Hi Doreen, just seen your posting re Maurice Kidney. My grandparents Daniel & Elizabeth Hennessy were from Cork / Ringaskiddy area & my grandmother maiden name was Kidney born 1881.

What is interesting my grandfather joined the Royal Navy abt 1906 & between 1901 & 1908 Elizabeth Kidney left Cork for Portsmouth,(Portsea Island) Hampshire where she married my grandfather in 1908. Its believed that their was a close connection in Cork between the Kidneys & Hennessy's which resulted in their marriage in Portsmouth in 1908.

Her father name was Timothy Kidney born abt 1855 & I believe her mother name was Mary McCathy born abt 1868 (possibly his second wife)the names of her brothers & sisters, Minnie born 1874, a brother Timothy born 1876, Kathleen 1883, Patrick born 1886, Hannah born 1891.

I wonder if there is a connection, could Maurice be a brother of GG grandfather. Long shot but you never know.

Teresa
Its seems most of her siblings moved to Portsmouth & can be found on the 1911 census record.

Hi,
I was wondering if you have any dates for Stella in NJ?
I have been researching for a Frederick Kidney (grew up in an orphanage in NY, brother to my grtgrdfather) but ended up by 1900 in NJ at the approx age of 35. Prior and by 1900, he had a wife, was widowed and for 1900 appears on the census for Trenton State prison. I can not locate him after that (yet!). Long shot but he could have had children before his wife died and he was incarerated. failte52@hotmail.com
my grandmother on my fathers side was named Stella Kidney. from what i understand she was from Patterson,NJ. I have no clue who her parents were. i know of possibly 2 siblings by the names of Arthur Kidney and Irene Kidney. Stella married a man by the name of Walter Jesse Allison who at some time or another moved the family to the New Paltz,New York area. My father Vernon Allison was born in New Paltz. i would appreciate any help you could give as to any relationship between these names. sounds like Samuel Kidney could have been my grandmothers father/or possibly an uncle.

I have a GG-Grandmother Lida KIDNEY-Reeves.....I have her death certificate, and her birthplace is listed as Cincinnati, OH 2/21/1857...her parents are listed as "Unknown KIDNEY"....I am trying to get any information on her but it is difficult with just this information I have. She married Henry Reeves and they moved and lived in Lima, OH until their respective deaths. She raised my Mother until she was about 9 years old in Lima, OH and then my Mother and her Mother moved to CA. I think that "Lida" her first name could have been a nickname or part of her full first and/or middle name as I have seen it listed as C. E. as well. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Would love to hear from you.
Rene
(So. CA)

My mother was a Kidney ( Violette Kidney)Her father was Will Kidney, his father was William Thomas Kidney, and his father was George Kidney who came from Ireland about 1845. He had bother James Kidney and a sister Mary Kidney. I have much history from 1880 to the present on this Kidney family. But do not know if it is connected to your Kidney's.

Hi....I am just starting to find out information about the KIDNEY name. My ggg-grandmother's maiden name was KIDNEY. But I don't know anything about her parents other than the surname KIDNEY.
She was born 2/21/1857 in Cincinnati, OH according to her death cert. She lived in Lima, OH and her married name was Reeves. She went by Lida but think this could have been a nickname....came across Elizabeth as her first name but can't confirm that yet. She married Henry Reeves and was a widow most of her life. She had two daughters with Henry....Dot Reeves-Curtiss and Flossie Reeves-Decker.
Would love to compare notes with your Kidney's in OH and see if there is a connection!
Rene
(So.

I have recently found that Kidney is the madien name of my ggg-grandmother "Lida" Kidney Reeves...she was married to Henry S. Reeves died 1909 and was in the Civil War (Ohio). Her name could have been Elizabeth and she went by "Lydia or Lida". They were originally from Cincinatti and then moved to Lima, OH. If this sounds familiar, please post a message or email me at renetann@aol.com. I know very little about this side of my family and am very eager to learn.
Thank you.

After 3 1/2 years, I just returned to this board and found you had replied! I changed my e-mail address, you may note. Thank you for the info. I was looking for Marge Sharrow as my father told me over the years that she had info on my Blackburn family. Well, I found Greg Sharrow online in a round-a-bout way and was in contact for awhile. As it turns out, Marge was not interested in family history - it was Earl - who BTW died a year ago. Earl's mother was my great-aunt and the Blackburns and Sharrows lived next to each other in Cleveland for a time. Thanks again and sorry it took so long to reply - for all I know you may have a different e-mail address yourself by now!!
Lori

P.S.

Marge wore/wears her hair ALWAYS in a topnot. We are Congregationaltist by church. Her Grandmother, well, is a mystery that I shall not divulge here. But the genes are oh, so obvious. My Pilliod branch became Congregationalist, departing from the Catholic Church. Marge, Earl, and I went to the Angola, Indiana Congregational Church (U.C.C.)together (for 40 years) until I moved away to Ohio. They were/are progressive in thinking. Angola is a very small town. But Earl was a Finance Officer for Tri-State University and a travel agent on the side. ( I have a degree from that University-then a "college"). They traveled the world and Marge was a self-made oil painter-many paintings dispayed in public. Gegory Sharrow is there son, in Vermont. That is where they live, now.

Marion P. Kidney was a dear , very Victorian, and very much alone. All she asked of me was to take her to AZARS for pancakes. I was young, then, and could not appreciate what tales she told me . I have extemely fond memories of her sister, Angie, on the farm. Marion was a very important lady in the Pilliod family. I will refresh my memory of all this before my Uncle Richard Pilliod in California (my Uncle) cannot remember. The Kidneys were huge in the corn mills. I will get back to you.

Peace,
Dorothy Pilliod (b. 1952; Grandaughter of Charles Joseph and daughter of Charles Gillis)
By the way... Marjorie Kidney married Earl Sharrow, not Robert. Bob and Marge DID NOT get along. Bob was Earl's brother.

Earl was an officer in the Tri-State College, now University, in Angola, Indiana. Marge and Earl had a travel agency on the side so they could travel worldwide.
