Milwaukee's German papers: Philipp Kiefer
Yesterday the respected old settler Philipp Kiefer died at the advanced age of 82 years. The deceased came from Wallertheim, Hesse-Darmstadt 38 years ago to America, and directly to Milwaukee. His wife of 81 years managed a lodging house for fifteen years in Milwaukee and Oneida Street, but retired three years ago and moved them back to No. 624 Center Street. The deceased leaves his widow and eight children, 28 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The children live in Milwaukee except one. They are Mrs. Henry Weden, John Kiefer, Geo. Kiefer, Mrs. Fred Tiss, John H. Kiefer of Ishpeming, Mich., Fred Kiefer, Henry Kiefer, and Jak. P. Kiefer. Last summer the couple celebrated the diamond wedding anniversary. The funeral will take place on Thursday.
