No, I don't have any information on the Kielty aka Kilty families or Barry families in County Cork on which I might be able to trace connections to my Dennis Kielty and Margaret and brother John Barry.
Maybe something will pop up sometime.

You have done a lot of work on preserving your family's legacy. I looked at the family group sheet of Denis Kilty with interest as I am researching my 3rd gr-grandfather Richard Kilty who at one point was in the parish of Mourneabbey which is south of Mallow. There is a Denis Kilty who was also there who lived in Greenhill, southwest of Mallow. Richard married for the 3rd time my 3rd gr-grandmother Johanna McAuliffe about 1842. Their first child's name is Denis. In 1847, they lived in Ballydaheen which northeast of Mallow. I was struck my your touching story of Denis and Margaret's emigration to Canada. Eventually, Richard and family emigrated through Canada in 1850 where their daughter Elizabeth "Lizzie" was born and later lived in DE,PA, KY, and KS. I was also struck by the coincidence your Denis' daughter being named Johanna which is 3 years after my 3rd gr-grandparents married. Richard was born in 1797 and your Denis was born in 1813; both were born in Co. Cork. Do you have any idea about their relationship or connection or have any other family stories?
Your stories definitely add a great depth to your history.

John Kielty, County Clare, married Margaret Barry, County Cork. John emigrated first to Pennsylvania and in 1847 Margaret emigrated with John, age 5 and Johanna, age 2, (leaving baby Margaret with a relative) and Margarets 17 year old brother, John. Margaret died on board ship and was buried in a mass grave in Canada (place not known). John Barry brought the children to their father. John Kielty had his married sister raise the children even though he later remarried. His son John died at age 9 after falling from a tree. Johanna is my great grandmother.
I have information on ellen kennedy she is the daughter of john kennedy and margaret "maggie" mccarthy "mccarty"....maggie mccarthy is the great aunt to senator eugene mccarthy family...my ggggrandfather timothy david kennedy is a younger brother to your ellen kennedy kielty....i have burial data that indicates she died in may of 1887 in de graff, mn....her husband patrick henry kielty remarried a younger woman named catherine sheridan after ellen's death...and they had at least three more known children your francis p/ kielty, henry kielty and a daughter (forgot her name)...i have death records on john f. kielty, patrick h. kielty jr., thomas h. kielty...all were male children to ellen kennedy and patrick h. kielty..the kennedy and mccarthy line followed this migration pattern...ireland to quebec, levis canada to forest prairie, meeker county, mn to degraff, swift co. mn. the families seem to move about in numerous direction upon reaching the meeker and swift co., mn areas. i belive there were a few other children a jame e. kielty who moved to iowa and a maggie keilty who married a person named wolf and she too moved to iowa...but i have not confirmed this data yet...anyway if you are still out there i am assembling a large body of definitive data...if you are interested...

Thanks for the reply. Forgot to check my boards.
Anyway, I have received back from the Historical Records in Ros Common (Stokestown) about the Kielty's. Seems that they lived in Elphrin a little village in Northeastern Ros Common. The home site was listed as being owned by Patrick Kielty but Cornelius Kielty and his five children lived there. He was my great grand father. My grand father was also a Corneilous but went by Conor and later after comng to New York he was called Richard. I have about a twevle page report I would like to share with you.
The person who compiled the report though that Patrick Kielty may have been Cornelious father, your information may confirm that they were brothers.

Jean,
Please respond to me by e-mail as I have so many questions.
You are the first person I have found who has hit on the Gielty family I am researching.

I havespoken briefly to Tony Gielty, son of Anthony and Mary O'Donnell on the phone. He promised to mail me some information, but I never received it.

Tony's grandfather, Anthony who married Mary O'Malley is the brother to my husband's great grandfather, James Gielty who married Mary Gallagher and moved from Achill Island to Cleveland, Ohio.

My screen names are: KDSedlecky@aol.com or Ladykee@aol.com

Gielty

Sorry I took so long to reply but we moved to Montana
in Sept. are still doing some building on the house
and don't have internet access yet. So I have to find
time to go to the library. Anyway, I sent my mother
your email dated April 28th and she said that my
grandma had a cousin Anthony. My one great-aunt sometimes
used the spelling Kielty and some of the relatives said
she was using the correct spelling. So who knows which is
actually the "correct" way, so either way is probably
ok. Not all my relatives came through Ellis and my
grandma came to Cleveland in 1908 at the age of 18. My mom
thought there were still Gielty's in Cleveland. You could
probably look through a phone book in the library. I'm curious
how you got the spelling for Achill with an e on the end. I've
never seen it that way - not even over there. Would it be easier
email directly rather than through this website? My email is
colleenhebert@hotmail.com. I'll let you know if I hear anything
else. Take care.

Colleen,
Thank you. There has to be a connection.
Dooagh and Dookinella are both places on Achille Island that I have in my files that associate with births/residences/christenings from our Gielty family in Ireland.
Even though James's name was changed--whether it was his doing or not--when he came to the states, I research Gielty, not Kielty...as Gielty is the true bloodline, so any help would be so much appreciated.

In Cleveland, our lines married into the families of Grove, Sedlecky, Murphy, Fransen, Mangan, Steimle, Petterson,

Today, we live in Tampa, FL.

I know there is an Anthony on her side. She was born in Dooagh in Achill Island. I gained my citizenship through the Gielty side of the family. My grandfather was a Toollis from Dookinella in Achill. We don't have internet access, yet, at our home in Montana so I use the library. It may be a week or two before I contact you again so please be patient. By the way where do you live?

Colleen,
I would love to hear about your Gielty family in Cleveland. We are related to the family of Anthony Gielty from Cleveland, and hopefully yours too.
This is my husband's family. In Mayo County, Achille Island, in Ireland, my husband's family was Gielty. His great grandfather, James Gilety and family came to American and settled in Cleveland, OH, in the 1880s. After going through Ellis Island, his name somehow was changed to Kielty...whether James did this on purpose or it was a mistake, we don't know. But, his brother's family settled in Cleveland as well, and their names remained Gielty. We know there were Kielty families in Ireland, however, James was not a Kielty.
He was the son of John and Celia Gallagher Gielty. James Gielty married Mary Gallagher and they are the ones to came to the states.

James's siblings were: Anthony Gielty who married Mary Malley (also came to the states and settled in Cleveland), Margaret Gielty who married Daniel Fadian, Anne Gielty who married Patrick O'Malley, and Bridget and Patrick Gielty who died young.

Do you connect to the Anthony (Tony) Gielty line in Cleveland?
Bottom line: my husband's line of Gielty...the spelling was changed to Kielty after entering the states and the family left it that way. My in-laws proved all of this and received their Irish citizenship several years ago. So, in our case: Gielty is Kielty, but I will be researching only Gielty as that is the true name.
